Sparse Message Board

Have you noticed that the message board is rather sparse these days? I think I have some insight. It seems there are those that have left feel it wasn't fun any longer, that it has become the playground, if you will, of a select few. Hmmmm, maybe we need to rethink how we do things here.

I thought there would have been more chatter about The Fall Ride. Almost 40,000 people ride into the town, and there`s not much to talk about? :?

We just need to find a topic that really gets people fired up.

Any ideas ? ? ? ? :?

Fall ride has been going on for many years and isn't a big deal anymore.

Maybe it is just this time of year when everyone is too busy to mess with the board.

Partially true Old Scout. There are those that have felt alienated and disappointed and will not post any longer. Like I said maybe we need to reconsider how we do things or respond. Myself included.

My reason (ok, excuse) for not doing much posting lately is simply because I've been busy with a new job and I just don't have the energy.

But I ALWAYS keep up everyday on what's going on and wait for new postings just to enjoy any drama  and to learn from the different opinions  . We have some pretty sharp people contributing to the TLMB!!!

I also haven't been 'fired up' on any of the topics but I also don't feel alienated or anything like that.

I'm just lying low, that's all...

On the other hand I also wish that more people would contribute. I remember a month or so ago that we had 2 or 3 new members that posted for the first time...that was cool. It looks like there were 63 folks that have joined since the start of 2009 with about half of them doing some posting (I clicked on the Members button).

It would be interesting to know how many different people read the TLMB every week compared to the number of different people who post...just to get a feel of the activity.

Could be that there are only a very few people in the whole world who know about the TLMB. But, that's hard to believe...after all we are Tomahawk, Wisconsin for God's sake !!!

Deb,
Debating a post isn't a crime. Saying a section of a post "doesn't make sense" isn't an attack, but a back-handed way of looking for a clarification. I think you're offended over commentary about your tatoo posts, but no one was making fun of you. (Or at least I know I wasn't.)

Do you remember the days of Fushia & that dude "raptor" that p.o.ed everyone? Every one was falling over themselves to post "ignore him" statements, thus giving him all the attention he wanted. Fushia was fluff & Pollyanna combined. If you were able to tolerate them and the comments their posts generated, the current board is "small potatos".

After fishing & hunting, the WI attention is now on the only professional sport that matters in the state (Go Pack Go!) and also transitioning to Autumn as folks shut down cabins for the year or just do stuff around the home front.

Jeff, it's not about me! I have broad shoulders and a thick head! I know what you mean about the others. However, this board is for everyone, fluff and Pollyanna combined included. This isn't about Fushia either. There were those that left because they felt what they had to say was considered contrite, also felt chastised by others. Not being able to share ideas and opinions. I have contact with some of these folks on other forums, that's how this came about. I see the personalities on the board as strong, sometimes not willing to bend or even considered another opinion.

Jeff, you do have to admit that there have been some here that do post in a manner that comes off as ridicule. I've felt ridiculed and I've been guilty of it too. (Again, this isn't about me.) We sometimes become overly passionate with our feelings. That's part of strong personalities not willing to bend. I feel badly for those that have left due to the board not being enjoyable.

One last thought Jeff, I know from your history here you're good church goin' folk, isn't it part of the good Lord's plan for us to be tolerant?

ODDS BODKINS!
When I saw the name Fushia, it really brought back some memories. :D

I kind a miss Mullet 17 , it was always fun to go back and forth about the Bear and The Pack!

Who was the poster who actually got banned from the message board? I think he even came back under a different name for a while.

OK Jeff, I'll give that much. How tolerant are you of someone who wishes Favre well, but hopes the defense loses the game?

For the past couple of years I have had nothing but time on my hands to participate at just about any hour of the night or day. I have been extremely ill during all of my posts. I have been on the waiting list forever, waiting for a liver match. Well guess what? BIG SMILE !!! This past Friday morning Sept.25th I got the call to leave for Madison (University Hospital) that I must leave in twenty minutes for my transplant. I got home last night after 8 days from transplant. I'm now sitting back in my home at my computor with a new liver. I look down at my chest and see 120 staples in the shape of a Mercedes sign. I am feeling real good now and can't stop from SMILING. Thank God and all my friends, relatives, and my church familys, for their prayers and support. So if the board seemed sparce for a while, that's where I was for the past 8 days. Now you'll have to put up with me during my long and slow recovery. Many more hours of idle computor time. I read and compute mostly because I am so sick of the television. So what can we talk about and tear apart next? I do love you all.

Wow. I am very honored to have all of you posting congrats and good thoughts towards me during these fragile days and nights. This group of people only shows how special our Leader board is in all of us being internet friends, somewhat of a family. All in all, we all have lots of fun bantoring back and forth with each other through sometimes funny and sometimes controversial threads. May we continue for along time to come. Load up your guns, what are we hunting next? Who needs building up, or tearing apart? haha Thanking you, the Catfish

I'm hunting for a couple of viable offensive tackles for the Packers in next year's draft. (Unless the Pack finally opens its purse a bit & signs a good free agent tackle in the off season.)

It was rather hard for Rodgers to make too many plays when he spent so much of the game laying on the ground. They really need to come up with some protection for him. If you look at that game closely, you notice that favre and the offense didn't win the game, the defense won it for them, and Allen #63 in particular. He spent as much time in the Packer backfield as the packers did.

On another note, was anyone else as sick and tired of the announcers singing favres praises as I was. You would have thought that he was the only one on the field. The game was more enjoyable to watch when I had it muted. ESPN needs to work on improving it's broadcast staff.

kind of hard to follow which thread to put these on so I will post both here. Congrats Catfish, glad your recovery is going well - keep hanging in there! Favre - that is exactly right - Favre had NO pressure from the Pack - it is like they stood back & watched him throw - JEEZ !! way to make him look better than he should have looked! Is it too much to expect our line to protect our QB? Isn't that their job & what they get paid the big bucks for? How embarrassing! I agree - the game was moe enjoyable to watch without sound or should I say too - the Favre praise session. Kudos to Rodgers - did an awesome job.
Now the rest of the team needs tostart doing their jobs.

Gee whiz Deb. First you bemoan the lack of participation & now the location of that participation??
(It's Catfish's fault! He wanted to know what we're hunting!)
Tilt.

Gooollee and gee whiz Jeff, blame the recovering from major surgery guy! Not like he has much else to deal with these days, now guilt. So Catfish, how is the recovery progressing?
