For so many years I have been reading Allan Bell's column! Every week I want to call him up on the phone and tell him how much I love his writing. I went to the phone book, looked up his number and it wasn't there :(
So, I'm signing up for the Message Board just to say THANK YOU ALLAN BELL!! You are great and you should write a book! (Maybe you have.....I will buy it)

I'm another fan of Mister Bell and his column.

I've long wondered if the Leader would consider publishing his columns in a book, or better yet, put them on line where specific items could be searched for. Whether it's spotted knapweed or spring ephemerals, it seems he has already written about it, and described and explained it well enough that photos aren't necessary. How about it, Leader?

He certainly is an amazing man. We'll pass along your kind words for him to see. At age 90-plus I don't believe he has a computer and certainly not Internet.

A book? We'll see what he thinks!

Anyone who'd like to share additional comments, please do so here and/or email them to kathy@tomahawkleader.com and we'll be sure Allan gets them. Letters are welcome, too: Tomahawk Leader, P.O. Box 345, Tomahawk, WI 54487. If you have a question or unusual sighting, share them, too, or call our office at 715-453-2151 and we'll get the two parties in contact with each other.

Thanks again, Kathy Tobin, Editor

One of the first things I read is Allan's column. A book compiled of all his columns would be great.

Ditto to what Old Scout's post. I would have never guessed Mr. Bell is 90.

Have you had any luck convincing Allan Bell that his columns should be in a book ? ? I hope it happens as I would be at the front of the line waiting to buy one ! ! !

Allan lives in Gleason. I have called him on several occasions. Computer says he is 92. Unbelievable if that is the case.

Allan is at least 92 and is still as sharp as a whistle. He's great to talk with and always has an interesting story to share. We're all pretty lucky to get to learn from him each week in his column. Hopefully the future holds many more to come

I had the opportunity to meet him in 1994 when he attended my father's funeral. He was one of my father's best friends in their youth.

Since he arrived early, our family got to sit with him for awhile and we truly enjoyed our time with him.

I too would hope his insight on Northwoods nature could be combined into a book.

PS You have to see his business card, it is hilarious!

Isn't this the same Allan Bell that published a book on birds some years ago, father of Lance Bell that graduated in 1964 I believe?

We used to go to the same church with Allen. I am pleased to see he is still going at 92 strong.

When my grandmother lived out his way and was getting up in age he used to stop in and see her when ever he could for no other reason then just because he was great guy and those are the kinds of things that really nice people do.
