Support for our Troops

Postby Old Scout » Thu Dec 15, 2005 8:59 am

With all the talk about supporting our troops, there is one place in Tomahawk that is doing more than talk.

The Barber shop in the hotel gives a Military discount to all current and retired military.

All you need to do is show a military ID. As far as I know that is the only place in the area that is doing this. I think it is a really nice gesture on the part of the barber to do this and show our troops that she cares. :)

The National Institutes of Health has just released the results of a $200 million research study completed under a grant to Johns Hopkins.
The new study has found that women who carry a little extra weight live longer than the men who mention it.

If you can catch her in the shop. The hours of business are not at all consistent. It is always hit or miss. More miss then hit. I do agree though it is a nice gesture!!!!

I have a friend who's in Iraq right now & a friend whose son just got back from his second tour. According to them books, candy & snacks to share, and warm gloves, hats,& hand warmers (It's winter in the deserts too) are great things to send to the troops right now.
What if there were no hypothetical questions?

We need to start a campaign to get all our local business to start giving discounts to our military and show them that they really care. Signs in windows are great but when that is as far as it goes it wears thin in a hurry. They need to show them that they are appreciated for what they have done.

God and the Soldier we all adore
In times of trouble, but not before
When war is over and all things righted
God is forgotten, the Soldier slighted.

Wet wipes, sun glasses beef jerk, real toilet paper, quality socks, and letters from home are some other items that soldiers love to recieve. I send all of the venison jerky I can get my hands on to friends their.

Speaking of the barber shop, next time you are there, ask about Becky's son! He just recieved the meritorious service medal from the Boy Scouts for saving the life of his cousin.

Dalvin jumped into running water below the king's dam to save his non-swimming cousin from drowning!

Sorry if that is off topic... but I thought it should be mentioned.
