Asian Beetles

Postby twins98 » Tue Oct 21, 2003 8:26 am

These pesty lady bugs are really bugging me!!
Does anyone know where they came from? A couple years ago they appeared - never before. I heard the DNR brought them here - Is this true? They smell, bite and are really a problem. If the DNR really did bring them here - they can come and clean my house, garage, shack, and shed out!!
 When the fall colors were at their peak you couldn't even go out and enjoy the colors because you'd get attacked!! What a mess!!

I'm not sure who brought them into the country, but they should be hung by the family jewel's in the town square.
The National Institutes of Health has just released the results of a $200 million research study completed under a grant to Johns Hopkins.
The new study has found that women who carry a little extra weight live longer than the men who mention it.

Wow! It sure is easy for some to blame the DNR for everything...but Asian beetles were actually introduced into Louisiana a couple of years ago to control insects that were causing trouble for the pecan trees. They eventually found their way up here, and everywhere else. So direct your angry phone calls to the state of Louisiana and the pecan farmers.

Pecans are nuts. So this pesky, biting, stinking beetle saved the nuts in Louisiana and made us nuts up here?

Thanks for clarifing that for me Anita. I had just "heard" that the DNR was responsible. Are they here to stay or just for a couple years like the worms? Louisiana has a much different climate then us - you'd think they die due to our cold winters??

Awww come on, I haven’t seen or heard them yet but we survived the British Beatles and even Elvis. The Asian Beatles will come and go too. Rock N Roll is not really the downfall of civilization and another thing….

Wait? You’re talking about “real bugs”?

Oh, okay… forget what I just said…..
