venison feed

After all these years of not only visitors and residents enjoying the free(?) feed in Tomahawk they have changed again, NO, not the meat. In past years businesses in Tomahawk(for a FEE)could get burgers from the feed for employees who did not take off for deer hunting on Friday. This year ours was told (by the chamber)the people could go on their lunch breaks and get their own. Not on a 1/2 hour break.  A person has to park blocks away and stand in long lines, then eat. The chambers new consideration of local manufacturing is sad. Thanks, we used to look forward to it. I am going to do the same when they ask for donations next time, money or venison. Everyone else enjoy, more for you this year. Less donations next year.

That is just like the 4th of July street Dance, you had to pay to get in! I don't understand why the chamber is changing everything now that Kim Swisher is no longer there.

Isn't the venison feed about offering a thank you and welcome to the visitors that come to the northwoods each year for the hunt? I can understand how it is disappointing to lose a perk. Yet, let's remember this isn't about feeding the workers of Tomahawk, it's about returning a favor. Hunters spend many dollars while visiting the Tomahawk area, which benefits everyone. Somewhat similar to the Fall Ride.

With a new person in charge of any organization change is bound to occur. From what I've read in the Leader and heard via the grape vine the change at the chamber has been very much for the good. "Just because it's always been that way.", isn't a reason not to change. Change helps us all grow. So nugget, grow from this expierence.

So, the workers are not to be thanked? The burgers were not free to local bus. There was a charge. Is that not a contribution? As a whole do we not contribute millions to the local economy? So the money I spend on deer hunting here in my local area does not count? Because I was at work that day does that mean I do not hunt. Locals do consume quite a few burgers at the feed, it is just they have a day off. I will grow from this experience, when the chamber needs a hand maybe mine will not be there to help. It is never a good idea to step on the hands that feed you or do not feed you as the case may be. I realize it is a small thing
