What this town needs...
...is a good barber shop. One with consistent business hours would soon have all the customers they could handle.

Sad but true the barbershop is quickly becoming a thing of the past. Gone is Floyd and the rest of the good ol' boys catching up on the town's gossip. Today is the day of Metro Sexual. So Brian go visit the girls at JB's or any one of the fine salons in Tomahawk. I must say what Tomahawk has to offer is as progressive or even more so, than what I've found in the Chippewa Valley. What Tomahawk needs is a used book exchange. True, Twice as Nice offers a few titles, something a little more diverse would be nice.

Yes, you just can't get a haircut on line yet. I don't mind going to one of those yuppie like places and getting my hair cut by a attractive girl rubbing her breasts against me as she does so, but I just feel dirty paying for it afterward.

Back when I flaunted that thick, studly, disco mane in the late 70's, I didn't mind going to a 'beauty salon' for a shampoo, razor cut, and a blow dryer and brush. I was eye candy for the ladies. 30 years or so later, however, what's left can be combed with a damp washcloth. :p
Today I prefer walk-in, 5 minutes in the chair and gone. The gal who cuts my hair now bought out my old barber. The problem is that she's only open when she feels like it and the hours posted on her door must be there for laughs.

I think Tomahawk also could use a Wendy's restaurant. Mmmmm... Wendy's.

Re: What this town needs...
I wonder what happens when a Family Dollar Store and a Dollar General Store have a price war. Does one of them then become a .50 cent store?
The Family Dollar Store must not have had the same clout (like so many store owners in Tomahawk) to keep that competition OUT of Tomahawk.

Re: What this town needs...
Buyer beware at the Dollar General, especially with cleaning supplies. I've found that these products are most often in smaller quantities than found at say, Wal-Mart or Shopko, for the same price, sometimes even at a higher price. I've also found that some of the "generic" equivalent to some cleaning supplies are just crap and not worth the few pennies saved. However greeting cards aren't bad at 2/$1.00, not Hallmark, but with much the same message. Over all the quality of much of the merchandise at Dollar General and Family Dollar is inferior. Ya still can't beat Ben Franklin for friendliness, variety, and quality at a reasonable price. In Tomahawk and Chippewa Falls.

Brian, You get a good barber in here and I will be standing in line right behind you. The Ladies do a good job but call me old fashion, I still prefer a regular barber shop.

Re: What this town needs...
Old Scout still remembers the days when all of us men would sit around the pot bellied stove in the barber shop and swap lies. Shave and a haircut cost two bits in those days and the conversation was priceless. Trouble is, as you get older you need less barbering. :p

Dumb kid plus crotch rocket equals organ donor sooner or later. Really enjoyed the letter in the Leader this week from your mom. Priceless!
