Thank you Old Scout. Contrary to Fushia's argument, the majority of the riders do contribute to the MDA cause while in Tomahawk. The raffle tickets for one are purchased by the majority of those attending. Actually they spend lots of money on those tickets to win the bike and to benefit MDA.
As Old Scout stated the non-profit organizations within the community benefit as well. The Optimist Club sells cheese curds all weekend. What do their profits benefit, the youth of the Tomahawk community. Now I know Fushia that your kids, as well as mine, have been involved in activities over the years that the Optimists have helped fund. Thank you bikers for purchasing cheese curds. The good Sisters of Sacred Heart salvage hundreds of pounds of aluminum cans each year, monies which are used to feed the hungry. I believe the Scouts may do the same. Feeding the hungry and funding youth programs, yup that sure is bad. With any function such as the Fall Ride there will always be monies spent that don't directly benefit the cause. Yet there are still benefits all around. Shoot, I don't think MDA has ever refused the donation from the Ride.
By the way Fushia, you're not concerned if those participating are having fun or not, what's wrong with fun? If the rideres are enjoying themselves they are more likely to spend more money, money that will benefit MDA. Hmmm, what a novel idea having fun for a good cause.
I guess what's really sad Fushia, is that I feel badly that you have a negative outlook on such a positive thing.
