Student Parking at THS

Postby aphephilia » Tue Aug 19, 2003 6:43 pm

Does anyone know if they instituted the $25 per semester parking fee for THS students who drive their own cars to school?

If the kids who just have to have thier cars at school, have enough money for a car, gas and insurance, then welcome to the real world and pay for parking also, just like the grown ups. It is all a part of being a driver. $25 is not much for 1/2 of a school year. It is less then 10 cents a day. I would have charged them at LEAST twice that much.

Do the teachers have to pay to park their cars?

Does your employer charge you?

Taxpayers paid for the parking lot, now they must pay for their kids to park in the parking lot too?
Seems to me it's just another way to "milk" the taxpayers.

Not that it matters to me, I don't have kids in school anymore, but if I did, I would be upset about this.

Taxpayers' money did not pay for my employer's parking lot. (just so ya know)

Does the snow remove its self? Are the trucks and plows free? Maybe gas and oil are free also.

Parents do not have to pay for their kids to park, the kids can. Maybe parents should quit handing their kids everything and make them work for it.

One more thing, I believe every teacher pays for parking by just being teachers!!!!!!!!! There is bus service for the kids. If they chose to take a car instead then let them pay!! :D Maybe the tax payers should pay to have the teachers bussed.

Taxpayers pay for everything in government. The Schools don’t have a way to “make” money only the private sector does. Any form of government making money is a form of taxation even when it is not called a tax.

Not that it’s relative but I pay $32 a day to park my car at the hotel I stay at in San Francisco, above the $185 a day room charge. In Miami Beach they charge me $55 a day above the $215 room charge.

I paid my son's parking fee ($25.00)
He payed me back.
I am thinking that the real reason for the fee is to keep track of who's car is in the lots. It will help make sure that only the people that are suppose to be at the school are there.
By the way, where does the money go to?
Maybe they should put parking meters in the lot for visiters.
;)

Teachers may not make as much money as they wish they would but, they new when they went into teaching what the pay would be.
If they don't like the pay, try finding another job that give them all that time off with pay.
I told one girl that was going to school to be a teacher," I don't want to see you protesting in a line years from now because you don't think you are paid enough." "research the pay and see if you think it is worth it."
The cars I see in the lot that are owed by the teachers own look pretty new to me. :p

A lot of people have new cars, a lot of teachers are in debt for those new cars just like many other people. So what is your point.  there are new cars at the paper mills, Harley, hospital & clinics.

I live in a small community, much smaller then Tomahawk. We have financial problems like most schools. I also volunteer my time as a school board member. I cannot understand why our local teachers in surrounding districts strike over pay. I sure would like 100% of health insurance paid, work 186 days out of the year and get paid in the $40's. And yes, I know they chose their profession and I chose mine.

I dont see a problem charging parking fees.Hopefully the money goes to good use! The only problem is that the kids are parking outside the school some of them anyway. But they always did, before the fees. Some of them got kicked out of the parking lot cause they drove like an idiot,so on the side streets they went and then the busses get to deal with them.Yes they leave garbage around and guess what else they do by these parked cars off of school grounds they stand around them in the am smoking!!I feel really sorry for those people that live were they park, cause they do leave a mess. And yes it would tie up the police way to much if they posted no parking there, cause I would be willing to bet they would park there, even if it is posted.
