1930's Tomahawk
Hello, My father was a well-known character in the Tomahawk area in the 1920, 30's and part of the 40's. He owned The Midway Garage. I am interested in meeting folks whose parents or grandparents may have known Elmer H. Titus. He was married to Sylvia Titus (Plank) until 1945. He was involved in the 1922 Little Bohemia shootout. I also would like to see scans of any old photographs of the Tomahawk area. Thank you. Mariana Titus

Here's a photo of Main Street (Wisconsin Avenue). Judging by the vehicles I'd guess late 1930's to early 40's. If you look closely you can see 'Old Scout' crossing the street. Probably heading for Spike's Pool Hall...

I think that was Joe's Mug & Jug on the right side corner with Nick and Son's furniture factory on the left. What's missing is the pop corn vendor wagon that was always sitting on the corner by the factory. This is my 50's recollection though....

Thanks very much guys - I think I have those post cards - of course, I have many to share beings dad owned a gas station and garage...I'll have to figure out how to share them. I can remember the 50's up there and of course have lots of pictures in the 70's...hey, what's going on with Tim Nelson, does he still work for his Uncle Buck? Anyway, I look forward to going up soon. Appreciate the posts back! SAlud.

Re: 1930's Tomahawk
This may be a little off subject but I would really like to see pictures of Tomahawk, especially of the downtown in the 50s and 60s, but really any areas and any times including Bradley Park.
Does anyone know of how that might be done? Anyone know of anyone who might be a contact for such pictures? Any web links?
I know this is on the shirt tail of Mariana's first post, just a different period, but there may be others who have the same interest as us also. And someone out in Message Board land must have some answers...
Thanks...

I would think you could check with the historical society. They have many options to obtain these things & may have them in their files now..

Thanks Logic1. I haven't check the HS site for about a year now but will try it again. Maybe something new has been added.
I appreciate the reply...

Check ebay and search "Tomahawk Wisconsin". The vast majority of items you will find are postcards - many from the era you've mentioned. Good luck!
