According to this weeks Online Leader....
"Pressing Matters" is now available locally at Cover to Cover Books and Gifts, Tomahawk Ben Franklin, Nelson's County Market, Lemke's Tomahawk Foods and at the Tomahawk Leader office. Additional information on the author is posted online at larrymtobin.com and copies of Pressing Matters are available there and via a banner on this site (just click on the Pressing Matters front cover and go to "Buy a book"). The book also may be purchased through FathersPress.com. And, it's available on Amazon.com and can be ordered through any bookstore nationwide."

Jeff, my recommendation would be to make your purchase at the Tomahawk Ben Franklin, or as it is fondly referred by our family "the BF". Many of your vacation shopping needs (other than food) can be found at the BF. I'm sure with all of your travels to Tomahawk you have shopped the BF. If not, it's time to explore!

Thanks for the info. Amazon listed the book as "out of stock".

Ken, I hope your place is not in the paths of the CA wildfires!

Even though Amazon lists it as "Temporarily Out of Stock" they are shipping. Amazon's system for new authors is a little weird, I think they keep about 1 book in stock at first and then reorder every time an order is placed. Enough orders were placed right away that they are still trying to catch up (and from the orders I can track I think that will happen fairly quickly).

It's better for pretty much everyone if you buy the book from a local store anyway (but nice for many of the out-of-towners to be able to order from the big guys...

I plan on getting the book....probably via amazon.com, not sure yet...but I have a couple of questions.

1) Is there any way to get a signed copy, and shipped to CA, by the esteemed author Mr. L M Tobin
2) Any idea when/if it might come out in paperback

p.s. Concerning CA wildfires... They mostly stay away from the heavily populated areas except those areas on the fringes that have lots of surrounding forests like Tahoe, parts of Oakland, etc. But this year is really dry, and now it's becoming hot, so we're having a very early and nasty fire season. Lightening is the major cause of up to 1000 fires mostly in the northern portion of the state where most of the big forests/parks are. Luckily, so far, very few casualties and surprisingly, not that may structures have burnt down...but there have been some of both. Our Governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger, has already called out some National Guard to help the firefighters and others have been called in from out of state. The smoke creates a hazy overcast day sometimes blocking out the sun. I will take that any day to the terrible misery that the folks in the paths of the fires are going through. Lots of loss and lots or heartache. A shame....

Quick answers...

1. I'll have to check. I know he's signing them, just not sure what the process is...

2. It's only out in paperback.

Sorry for the delay...

If you buy a copy directly through Larry (paying with Check or Credit Card) he can sign it and ship it to you. Shipping and handling is $4.50.

I believe you can call the Tomahawk Leader at 715-453-2151 during business hours and talk to the office staff to arrange this...

Picked up an autographed copy at the book store located in downtown Tomahawk last Saturday. Unfortunately missed the 11- 1 signing period by an hour. It took too long for the Boettcher clan to leave home for our Lake Alice vacation. Turned back twice a couple blocks from home for stuff we forgot to pack. (Senility??) Then stopped in Wittenberg at Nueske's for applewood smoked delicacies for the grill.

I'm saving the book for my next trip for work. Anybody care to give it a review? Or should we wait a month or so & start a new topic line on the message board?

p.s.: We've stayed at Zipp 1 and Zipp 2 cottages the past two years. If you're looking for a three bedroom cottage for friends to come to visit you, or for your own family, Bob & Shirley Zipp are fantastic hosts! The cottages are roomy & very clean. The fishing & solitude are phenomenal!

Finally read the book during a trip for work to Louisiana. Other than some overly descriptive alternatives to the phrase "He took an extra deep breath", I loved the book.

Thanks for a good read Larry!
