A letter in the Sept. 9 Tomahawk Laeder:
Re: Patriot Day Program 2008, Sept. 11 at 10 a.m.
“A Community Gathering,” Lincoln County Veterans Memorial.
The program will provide the Tomahawk community an opportunity to remember the 2,900-plus people who lost their lives in the four planes and all those in the buildings at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and at Shanksville.
The program will recognize those who gave the final sacrifice to assist victims of the tragedy; our police, firefighters, medical personnel and volunteers. A special remembrance for the men and women who have served and are serving in our Armed Forces will be made.
Using music, prayer and a special presentation by Tomahawk Elementary students we will join together in our hearts and minds and gain strength through each other to show support and optimism for our future.
Please join us at the Lincoln County Veterans Memorial.
A special time to gather and reflect and share will begin at 9 a.m. with musical selections beginning at 9:45 a.m. The program will begin at 10 a.m. with the Veterans Honor Guard presenting the flags, followed by a 30-minute program.
