Readers are encouraged to poke their heads in on a special informational meeting next Monday night (July 24). Tomahawk Alderwoman Rejeana Ebert, volunteer extraordinaire, and senior mentor Annette Daigle-Stewart are spearheading an effort to create a citywide beautification group that would help tend to projects year-round.
Many might recall Annette’s exhaustive involvement in city recycling and beautification efforts years ago. Each spring, she’d oversee community clean-up campaigns – something near and dear to our hearts, too. Hubby and Leader Co-Publisher Larry Tobin oversaw the same project years before and initiated the then-popular Orchid and Onion Awards, recognizing business and home improvements and chastising those who let their property sit in visible disrepair. The luncheon awards program was a wonderful pat on the back or kick in the behind, depending on the circumstances.
Rejeana and Annette have some new ideas of their own and want to share them with others. If you’re free and think a helping hand might help clean up some blighted areas and trashy alleys, please join them at 7 p.m. at the Tomahawk Public Library.
