Crimes and cover-ups appear to have taken an extremely dangerous turn in recent months in Lincoln County. And, you’re being asked to help solve the growing scare involving arson. Be vigilant this spring and report any suspicious activity.

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a series of fires in seasonal cabins in the northern part of the county. These fires appear to be deliberately set, possibly to cover up the previous forcible entry to the cabins.

On March 27, the remains of a cabin were found on County Road E near the Harding-Rock Falls town line.

On March 20, a cabin on County Road O was observed on fire, causing extensive damage. This cabin and the cabin next door had been broken into.

On Nov. 22, 2005, a cabin on Stahmer Lane in the town of Bradley was found on fire. It, too, has been broken into.

Anyone with information regarding these fires, or someone possibly breaking into cabins, is asked to call the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department at 536-6272, or Crime Stoppers at 536-3726 or 1-800-222-TIPS. Crime Stoppers callers can remain anonymous and may qualify for a reward.
