I really have to laugh at the way people are reacting to the new law. They can hardly wait to put up a sign in the window of no guns allowed. I mean really, do they think the every one is suddenly going to be walking around with a gun in their pocket looking for a chance to use it. And besides, if it is concealed, how are they going to know.

Total over reaction ! !

I am betting that there won't be one in a hundred that will actually carry one when in town.

Total over reaction, maybe, maybe not. There are far too many people in this world that own weapons that shouldn't. Will a little window cling sign keep them from carrying a gun into an establishment, probably not. What the concealed weapon bill will do is create more jobs. Additional security at sporting events, casinos, and the like. I do believe that there are far more people packing heat that one would guess.

A gun in hand is better than a cop on the phone.

As I was walking into the Marshfield Clinic this past week I saw the sign for no concealed. It got me to thinking. If a crazy decided to come into the clinic waving a gun I think I'd feel much more comfortable knowing someone nearby might be packing some heat.

You got that right Deb. Quite awhile back there was a shooting spree in a McDonalds in California. Something like 23 people were gunned down, customers and employees were killed. Now if the manager in the back had a gun and was trained in it's use. He could have stood behind the shake machine and could have taken the shooter out after only 3 or 4 people were shot instead of 23. No one being armed in that place was like sitting ducks in an arcade. That happened in a Post Office as well by a disgruntled employee. He took out about a dozen people. How about if the Post Master had a gun on duty and stopped that shooter from shooting 12 innocent people. Maybe a couple would have been shot but really how long should a manager or a Post Master hide behind a wall and wait until the sjhooting stops before coming out. Sure it is true that the manager and the Post Master don't want to take the chance of being killed them selves but they wouldn't have been out in the open as a sitting duck in the line of fire. How about if a customer was there and was carrying concealed. He could have yanked that gun out and killed the shooter before so many were killed. OK if it seems like returning to the old West where every man had a holstered gun, then so be it. If that is what our society has evolved into, than it is up to us to ADAPT and stay alive.

When I lived in Key West there was a couple sitting in their car in the parking lot of McDonalds eating their lunch. A transient vagrant bum came out of the bushes where he had a little encampment and walked up to the couples car and started peeing on the front bumper. The man rolled down the window and told the guy to buzz off, and that they were eating and how dare you do that in front of my wife. The bum flipped them off and the the man returned the flip off and began eating lunch again. A few minutes later the bum came walking across the parking lot with a pistol in his hand coming right towards the couple's car. Now imagine you sitting in a car, defensless, seeing the bum coming right towards you with a gun. The bum walked up to the driver's window and shot the man and his wife dead. Now if that man had a gun himself, when seeing this man coming at you armed, when he got up to your window you could shoot him before he lifted the gun towards you. Now people say, "I wouldn't be able to kill someone." Well well, gues what, they'd be alive today.

In a case like that you don't shoot to kill, you shoot to stay alive !

I wonder if those that are putting up the signs might be leaving themselves open to liability issues because they denied someone the right to defend themselves.

Just a thought. :?

Now Old Scout, weren't you ever in the military? Maybe not the USMC though.

Retired from the Army after 21 years.

We are talking handguns here not rifles. And no not that kind of hand gun !

I would have to start wearing a Trench coat so my rifle would fit under it !
