Let's Eat

Postby Deb Richardson » Sun Sep 16, 2007 1:34 pm

Now that summer is nearly finished let's get fluffy and share some of our favorite summer grill and campfire favorites. Some of which, I'm sure, taste so much better consumed while visiting the northwoods.

Whole chicken stuffed with sauerkraut, seasoned with salt free seasoning, simiilar to Lawry's, recently became a fav for us. Baked sweet potato on the side. This was done on the Charbroil, it may need to be modified for a campfire, hopefully we can experiment with that yet this fall.

On Labor Day I got a tin foil pan around 3" deep. I put about a 1" layer of sourkraut on the bottom. Then I added bratwursts (about 8-10). I covered the brats with a couple of diced sweet onions. Then I added beer. I placed it on the grill, closed it, and left it covered for an hour. Later I removed the brats one at a time, and browned them on the grill, along with a some of the kraut and onions, and placed the brat, kraut, and onion in a nice brat roll! A little ketchup and mustard , and your set! ;)
