The forum has settled into complacency and stagnation except for a little debate between Bob and JFlosum. Certainly someone out there must be climbing Mt. Everest or involved in some secret plot to take over the world (I said secret, not the obvious one Bush and the corporations are running). I would be happy to hear of these adventures. Despite the myths, the life of an Olympian god is not all that exciting.

What do you miss more John? Posting as Mr. Kottah or the endless arguments?

ODDS BODKINS! The name Mr. Kottah is still appearing on the Message Board! Will he become part of Tomahawk folklore? Similar to Rhinelander's Hodag?<p>[ June 17, 2002: Message edited by: KEN ]</p>

>>>The forum has settled into complacency and stagnation except for a little debate between Bob and Jflosum<<<<p>Zeus, I noticed the same thing. I was surprised that they cut me and Bob off. I fail to see where we were bothering anyone but maybe each other. (and I guess the webmaster) I mean if anyone was turned off all they had to do was not read our ranting a ravings. From what I have seen of Bob, he’s very good at holding his own and giving as good (if not better) then he gets. Nothing he said bothered me all that much. I have a lot of very close friends that are very liberal. We have a ball hashing out the issues. I learn a lot that way. <p>I was not all that fond of Mr. Kottah’s tone form time to time but I’m sure the same can and has been said about me. Someone has to pick up the slack!!! :) :) <p>
Seems to me that those that were upset with Mr. Kottah may have gotten what they wanted but did we throw the baby out with the bath?

JFlosum, yes he is gone. he may not have always been right and his attitude may have not always been the best but it was better than what gets posted these days. I will say he kept things interesting and alive. :(<p>[ June 18, 2002: Message edited by: ali ]</p>

A healthy debate on the board is not what Mr. Kottah seemed interested in. He was condescending, arrogant and interested only in getting people angry, at which time he'd step aside and play the injured little puppy. He was very good at it, too, until someone came along and rubbed his nose in his own mess.<p>[ June 18, 2002: Message edited by: Anita ]</p>

Ahh YES, the Mr Kottah days!!! back when this board used to be fun, interesting, fast moving......sure, some people were a little too sensitive and thier feelings got hurt, but hey, It's JUST entertainment! Of course the REAL fun days were on the original board way back when. Everytime you logged in you could be someone new, LOL, now THAT was fun!

I never liked that show. I would imagine that **** consists of endless reruns of that along with Joanie Loves Chachi.

Every board needs a Kottah/Jim Rome "pot stirrer".
Otherwise it's a "yawner". I'm suprised that no one has taken up the slack. Zeus is too abstract, Doolittle is too in love with his vocabulary, folks like me are too lazy.

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

I'm too abstract? If I was not a god I would be upset. I suppose in that gods are merely the abstracted ideological semblance of human aspirations, the "better angels" as Lincoln called them, it must be so.

It's not easy being a god you know. One is never allowed the luxury of going on and on and on about some personal problem or weed problem on the back lawn, or how the love of your life just left one morning and never came back, or worse not being able to get good beer in the neighborhood.

I'm not complaining you understand; it was just my day to watch the forum. And as Forrest Gump was fond of saying, "That's all I've got to say about that."

I'm saddened to hear that the mighty Zeus might live in a neighborhood without good beer. Might be time to find a new mountain!

Zeus,
Your reply sounded like a very bad country western song, but it does bring up a topic.

What's a "good" beer? The one that's free? The homebrew from that friend who has a knack of manipulating the malts & yeasts? That special micro brewer who puts Nirvana in a 12 oz bottle?
Or mass-produced, rice-boosted fizzy pale yellow stuff? (Gee, can you tell I have a bias on the subject?)

To me "The best beer by a dam site" isn't too shabby, but Bell's Expedition Stout is the pinnacle.

Jeff

A "very bad country western song"?

I suppose, I forgot to say anything about pickup trucks, Mama, trains, or getting drunk.

Mortal culture is not an easy study.

Zeus,
You also forgot Apple Pie.

As for good beers, an imperial stout called "Old Rasputin" from North Coast Brewing isn't too shabby either!

Silkvein-
Nice website. Good luck with the band.

Happy almost Friday!

Jeff

Well, I was drunk the day my Momma got outta prison. And I went to pick her up in the rain.
But, before I could get there in my pickup truck, she got runned over by a ****ed old train...

CHORUS:

So I'll hang around as long as you will let me
And I never minded standin' in the rain. No,
You don't have to call me darlin', darlin'
You never even call me, I wonder why you don't call me. Why don't you ever call me by my name?

--- David Allen Coe didn't write it but he did a great job singin' it.

Brian-
If that was really a song, I'd propose that the author be put in front of the train!

How do you think that our Bear fan Mullin 77 likes the phrase "Chicago Bear Football presented by BANK ONE!"???

Yes, That really is a song sung by David Allen Cole. It is a great song if you listen to the whole thing. Not just a few lines.
