A strong storm moved through the Northwoods Friday night causing downed trees and numerous power outages heading into the weekend.
The National Weather Service confirmed three tornadoes touched down in the area including one west of Pelican Lake in Oneida County, one on the Lincoln and Oneida County line near Tripoli and another in Marathon County.
Over 100,000 people were without power following the storm, including thousands in the Northwoods. Some were still without power even after electric workers had a busy weekend trying to get things restored.
Straight line winds also caused damage in and around Tomahawk taking down plenty of trees. Among damage experienced, playground equipment in Bradley Park was damaged by a falling pine and another hit the bathroom building causing damage to the roof.
Along with the powerful storm, the Tomahawk area also picked up over two inches of rain, which caused the National Weather Service to issue a Hydrologic Statement until Monday (yesterday) stating the Alexander Reservoir near Merrill was reaching flood stage and advised caution when walking near riverbanks.
