League of Women Voters meeting in Rhinelander Tuesday, Aug. 13

“Our Healthcare System’s Ills and Proposed Remedies” will be focus

RHINELANDER – The August meeting of the League of Women Voters of the Northwoods (LWVNOW) will be held Tuesday, Aug. 13, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Oneida County Department on Aging (ADRC of the Northwoods), 100 W. Keenan Street, Rhinelander. Dorothy Skye, with audience input, will identify the shortcomings of the current healthcare system and discuss what bills have been proposed to the U.S. Congress to address those shortcomings and the likelihood of passage.

Dorothy Skye, a retired physician, practiced at Ministry Healthcare in Rhinelander in Obstetrics and Gynecology for 30 years, part of that time serving as Medical Director. Previously to that, she trained and practiced at the Naval Regional Medical Center in San Diego, Calif. Currently, she is the president of the LWVNOW and serves on the board of the League of Women Voters of Wisconsin, where she is a Legislative Committee member.

Dorothy is uniquely qualified to lead a discussion on our healthcare system’s ills and explain the ramifications of the bills being proposed in Washington D.C. to the residents of Wisconsin and specifically the Northwoods, the LWVNOW notes.

The LWVNOW encompasses Florence, Forest, Langlade, Lincoln, Oneida and Vilas counties. The local league belongs to the state and national League of Women Voters, a non-partisan organization devoted to helping members and fellow citizens develop educated political opinions and act upon them through the democratic process.
