I heard over the weekend that the 724th Engineer Bn. Wis. National Guard, has been activated for overseas duty. This includes the units in Tomahawk, Rhinelander, Medford, Ashland, Hayward, and Superior. Please keep these soldiers in your thoughts and prays as they leave their families to do their military duty.

Greetings,
God speed to all the brave men and women that are setting thier lives aside to defend our freedoms. You are in our hearts and prayers. Though my green suit hangs in mothballs, I am with you in spirit. Keep your heads down, and make us proud.

Yesterday our local National Guard unit left for Fort McCoy. They will be there for a short time and then will probably be sent to the war zone.
This will be a tough time for the families left behind to wait and wonder about the fate of their loved ones.

The American Legion is in the process of setting up a family support group to help these families through these trying times. If you would like to help or would like to make a donation of needed items or money to support the group please contact the American Legion at 453-2489 or 571-7118.

Lets show the families and these soldiers that Tomahawk cares.

Scout,
Are there any particular items that have been identified for the families? Tomahawk was very generous to us when our house burned down, and I would be honored to return the favor.
Thanks,
Deano Goulet

Currently, St. Mary's Catholic Church's youth group is taking donations of travel sized items that are being sent to our troops overseas. This includes what you can purchase at most stores or some of the complimentary items you find in hotels. If you have these items, I am sure you can give them to a member of the parish or drop them off at the school or parish office with a note stating that they are for the youth group collection.

Things that the troops are in need include, baby wipes, lip balm with sun screen and sun screen, just to name a few.

A good friend of mine has a son who is in Iraq as a driver for supplies to the Marines. He told his dad that sunglasses (polarized) are a big help. Due to the sandstorms, a pair of sunglasses rarely last beyond two weeks.
