It`s that time of the year
Re: It`s that time of the year
ODDS BODKINS! , Looks like the Packers VS Vikings is turning into quite the rivalry! It will never be as good as The Packers vs Da Bears! Mainly because the Vikings have too many jerks on their team!

Re: It`s that time of the year
I'm kind of new to this forum and I enjoy it very much. I do admit that there is one thing (of many) that I don't understand. What the heck does "ODDS BODKINS" mean. I will admit that I am not from way up north and I have never heard that around the Green Bay area. Could someone please enlighten me. Thanks

Mid Road-
I interpret it as an old version of "Holy Sh*t" or "wow". (Either that or Ken is trying to speak in tongues after a few Logjam Brews!)

To Middle of the Road
It means pretty much what Jeff said. A couple of years ago a guy named Brian used the phrase on a post. I wasn`t interested in the topic, but I sure thought the phrase, ODDS BODKINS! ,was cool and I`ve been using it ever since. I actually remember it from an old Abbott and Costello movie. Lou Costello was a ghost from the revolutionary times and used it alot in the movie. If anyone remembers the movie let me know, I`d like to see if I could rent it.

I would like to thank you for your reply. It sure clears that question up. I'll try to find the name of the movie for you although I have a hard time getting past "Who's on first?" Thanks again
Re: It`s that time of the year
A quick search of the Internet reveals the following definition(s):
"Bubba: that's "Odds Bodkins", actually a euphemism for God's Bodkins, the nails used to attach Jesus to the cross, obviously quite a serious medieval oath.
(Though I also see this defined on the Internet as the body of God, so I guess you shouldn't believe everything you read.)"
For what it's worth...

Re: It`s that time of the year
I did a search on the web and the Abbott and Costello movie that I was thinking about is called, "The Time of Their Lives". I`m pretty sure it`s the one where Lou Costello says ODDS BODKINS!!

Ken: I also have a like new 'Great Googly Moogly' and a barely used 'Jumpin' Jehosaphat' available should you wish to use them...

When you wish upon a falling star, your dreams can come true. Unless it's really a meteorite hurtling to the Earth which will destroy all life. Then you're pretty much hosed no matter what you wish for. Unless it's death by meteor.
Re: It`s that time of the year
First of all, Mullin , sober up!
Second, Brian, I`ll trade your "Jumping Jehosaphat!" for a "Great Ceasars Ghost!" , made famous by Perry White the former editor and chief of the Daily Planet.

I don't know how the tie breakers shake out, but if the draft were held today, the Bears, Viqueens, and Lions would have picks 2,3,& 4.
I hate to say it, but it's time to cheer for those three sorry as* teams to win the rest of their games.

I wanted to wait until after the 49ers game before posting this.
The Packers look like they have a real chance of being in the Super Bowl this year! Especially if they can get the home field advantage in the play-offs. ODDS BODKINS!, does everyone feel the same.

Well , Philly did what they had to do to help The PACK out. LOSE! Now, and I can`t believe I`m saying this, but I hope Da Bears win! ODDS BODKINS! , that hurt just to say it! If the Bears beat the Bucs it will really put The PACKERS in a sweet situation. So , GO BEARS!!!!

Re: It`s that time of the year
What happened to the Packers today. The way that they played for sure doesn't look like a superbowl team. What a sad way to end the regular season.

Re: It`s that time of the year
The Packers got their butts beat bad. Their defense was just plain lousy. They sure didn't look like a playoff contender this week!
Re: It`s that time of the year
ODDS BODKINS! , The Pack looked like crap! Terrible defense and some of Favre`s recievers looked like they were too worried about the upcoming tackle before they had the ball caught! Hopefully this game was a wake up call, and they`ll come out with the Super Bowl on their minds come Saturday night!!

Re: It`s that time of the year
On "D" they missed Sharper who for the second time in December had no business attempting to return an interception when he got hurt. On "O" they deflated when Driver went out. All year the team has been held together with baling wire, bandaids, & bubble gum. The loss of two more starters was too much.
Add to this that the Jets were playing at home for their playoff lives. The Packers were playing to improve their chances in the playoffs. The Jets played a hot game with greater motivation.
I'm just glad to be supporting a team that has made the playoffs despite all the injuries. However far they make it will be fine with me. It's a nice feeling to go to a game & expect a win. Prior to '92 I was praying for wins.

Re: It`s that time of the year
Well it`s the biggest game of the year for the Pack on Saturday night. And they are a pretty banged up team! I`m just glad they`re playing in Green Bay ! Temps in the 20`s ,with light snow! The Falcons can`t like that!!

Re: It`s that time of the year
The weather is the one good thing the Packers have going for them. Any more injuries and they will have to put uniforms on the Cheerleaders and send them into the game. I just hope they are able to pull it off and go on to a couple more games. After the football season there isn't much to watch on tv.

Re: It`s that time of the year
I have not had an opportunity to say much 3-13
The only thing I have to say is:
ODDS BODKINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Looks like the Pack is in the same position as the Bears are right now.

Re: It`s that time of the year
I was wondering how long it would take for Mullin to appear! BUT, ODDS BODKINS! to insinuate that THE PACKERS and Da Bears are in the same position!!!!!! If that`s what you think , I can`t wait for next year! Even if Da Bears make out good in the draft, they`ll never be as good as The Packers!

Ken-
The similarities should make you pause for thought before slamming a mis-guided soul like Mullin. Da Bears lost their run stuffer before the season ever started. The Packers lost Gilbert every time some cheap shot team wanted to run the ball & clipped/cut-blocked him (Vikings, Atlanta both clipped him early in the game.)Both teams were praying for DB's , RB's, O Lineman with two good legs.
What's the difference between 12-4 & 3-13? FAVRE vs a gimpy Miller & Chandler. Shoot, even if those two are healthy, Favre is the difference. We've been blessed by Wolf's confidence to trade for a Falcon's third-stringer. Let's hope Favre stays long enough to tutor a successor and Sherman has the insight to draft/trade for a good one!

Marty, you are kidding right?
Packers and Browns?
Suicide is alot quicker than rooting for those two teams!
