The best rootbeer???

Postby Themacs » Mon Aug 11, 2003 9:40 pm

We just left up there, again the best vacation ever, my 34th year. My 8 yr old and 5 year old are rootbeer junkies. There are so many available now. Any opinions on which are the best?

My son is a root beer fanatic. He loves Sprechers
and I think it's called Dorthy Moulder's (Ely, MN).
What if there were no hypothetical questions?

Hands down, the very best root beer is homemade. My mom used to make it when we were growing up. Essential ingredients were Hires root beer extract, clean Coke bottles and a bottle capper. I haven't had it since 1973, but can still remember the taste.

I remember going there as a child and we had refillable plastic barrel containers. We would get them refilled quite often. I also remember Sunbow at Nelsons. My parents loved it too, because it would keep my brother and I occupied while they shopped.

I'm with jcg - that 'Arf 'n Barf' root beer is great. Hey Anita! Strangely enough, MY mom made root beer TOO. Brewed and bottled right there in the kitchen and stored in the basement to ferment. I remember the year she used a little too much yeast in the recipe and there were some nasty explosions a few days later. I never got to drink too much of it though. Seems my baby sister always beat me to the stash :D

When you wish upon a falling star, your dreams can come true. Unless it's really a meteorite hurtling to the Earth which will destroy all life. Then you're pretty much hosed no matter what you wish for. Unless it's death by meteor.

1919 ! ODDS BODKINS! Mullin!
I never heard of it! Is that what you "Flatlanders" drink when your`re watching "Da Bears" lose?
I`d have to vote for Sprechers. When I was alittle kid it was Grandpa Grafs...then it was A&W...now it has to be Sprechers.

I have tried Root beer all over the country and non of them can beat the A&W Root beer that we used to get at the old stand on the corner of 4th and Washington. Dog and Suds is good but runs a distant 2nd. :)

The National Institutes of Health has just released the results of a $200 million research study completed under a grant to Johns Hopkins.
The new study has found that women who carry a little extra weight live longer than the men who mention it.

I would have to agree with Old Scout on that one. Even though I BARELY remember that old rootbeer stand, being I'm so young and all. ;)

Something must be terribly wrong, I'm finding myself agreeing with people lately.
