OK, here is the idea. I want to know when you think we will finally get enough snow to open snowmobile trails with decent conditions.<p>I'm guessing by Jan 20 or so we will have had one good storm to do the trick.<p>Your guess?

Well seeing how guessing is free and has no consequences I will say that if you bought a $7,000 dollar snowmobile this year that you will regret it (unless you are particularly good at denial). Of course if you bought a trailer for $800 dollars and a truck to pull it all for $35,000 dollars, then extra regrettal will be in order. And if you worked for Enron until you accomplished all this a couple of weeks ago then add extra regrettal points. Then if your wife divorced you because of your stupidity in this endeavor, cheer up, you may have a chance of getting on Oprah.

I don`t have an exact date,but I think it will be sooner than January 20. (Maybe they can truck some in from Buffalo,NY.)

A guess off the top of my head is as good as any weatherman's predictions it seems. I'll say the first week of February. The Old Farmer's Almanac says plan for snow mid-February, March and early April. It also says January 15-23 will be bitter cold with flurries and sunshine and goes on to say there will be a mid-month thaw in January. Go figure that little contradiction.... :confused:

Probably the best bet would be to get rid of all those expensive "toys" and move to sunny Southern California. I've been doing my annual tree pruning and other related yard work in shirt sleeves and shorts. If I want a little snow, I jump in the truck and drive 45 miles to the mountains. With gas at 93 cents a gallon, it's no big deal.

I'm not a winter person, I happened to enjoy the late November, early December weather and I was perfectly content without snow. But I do know many snowmobile nuts will want to hunt me down!!! I also know it is unrealistic to think Wisconsin Northwoods would not get any snow!! I guess January 26, followed by a major cold blast that we'll all hate and grumble about. If it's gonna snow, for heaven's sake make it a big snowstorm, not this 1 inch at a time stuff, a good ole fashioned blast of a blizzard!!

RCTMB. You may be right. I plan on going to Florida on the 28th for a week. I like to see them nasty cold spells vent themselves while I'm gone. I bought my non-resident Salt Water fishing license on-line today. That reminds me I have to find my suntan lotion (don't want my skin to age prematurely you know).

Well, WE ALL MISSED IT!!!! We were all off by about a month! sooooooooooo anyway...this it it...
TODAY WAS THE BIG SNOWSTORM****<p>I've been shoveling and spent several hours outside and it was kind of refreshing, except the wind was blowing snow/sleet in my face...so just turned the other way....and enjoyed being in the northwoods beauty! The trees were very beautiful today...so everyone enjoy it while it lasts!

I`m alittle more optimistic, I`ll say January 31, 2003!

If The snowmobilers want snow all the have to do is talk to Brian and have him wish for some. It worked last year !
