Seek Public Apology

Postby Tomahawk Leader » Wed Apr 26, 2006 4:45 pm

A Letter in the April 25 Tomahawk Leader

To the Editor:
Let it be known that the Town Board has asked for public apologies from Karen Olson (ex-town clerk), Tom Cance (ex-town supervisor) and Clarice Krueger (resident and mother of Ms. Robin Comeau) in regard to their accusations of the board conducting town business in an illegal manner.
In the assistant attorney general’s explanation of the cemetery matter, it would appear that no violations occurred or at least not to the extent that would warrant prosecution. The Town Board acted within their rights and within their best judgment for all parties involved, as well as being efficient stewards of the town’s financial assets.

In a second letter, addressed directly to Ms. Olson, the assistant attorney general states that the allegations of an open meetings law violation occurring at the March 20, 2006, board meeting was not evident.

The Town Board has, therefore, asked each above individual to publicly apologize to the board members and the residents of the town for their comments and statements claiming “bully government – one that allows name calling, insinuations, accusations, intimidation and lies for personal gain.”
The Town Board will continue to serve the citizens in a professional and legal manner, and uphold their obligation as elected officials.

Respectfully,
The Skanawan Town Board
Patti Dremler, chair
Bill Jones, supervisor
Becky Daigle, supervisor

this situation was a sad one. Glad that things are now worked out. It is unfortunate that this happened in the first place, but I do believe that nothing underhanded was done & apologies from the people listed are due. I hate to say this but............apologies will absolutely NOT come from at least TWO of the individuals named. It is a matter of this: they are always right & do not think apologies are needed from them. It is too bad that the big picture is not taken into account. This situation hurt a number of people not just a few.
