A Letter to the Editor in the Dec. 11, 2007, Tomahawk Leader:
To everyone in the local Tomahawk area:
As the upcoming Christmas Season nears, followed by a New Year, we stop to reflect on the past year. Including the recent Thanksgiving, this becomes a time for all to take special notice of how fortunate most people here are in our area. We need to also remember folks who are not necessarily going through the best of times. We have had more folks visit the pantry this year than ever. A higher percentage than before, of the total people getting help, are children.
On behalf of all the volunteers who faithfully work at the Tomahawk Emergency Food Pantry, and those who visit us for food, we wish to thank everyone in our community who donates time, resources, talents and treasure for supporting our efforts at the pantry.
Without the many individual donors, the many, many organized drives, the media, social organizations, businesses and churches, we could not exist. I am sure you have all heard on radio and television and read about the problems with the lack of food at pantries in the surrounding areas. We are just keeping afloat.
Thanks again to all of you, we are able to continue to fulfill our mission. It is wonderful to see the Tomahawk area “taking care of their own.” With continued support from you all, the pantry will get the specific staple items and financial support that we need, so we can continue this valuable community service.
Be proud of this in your 2007 reflection. Pat yourselves on the back.
Best wishes for a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
From all of us at the Tomahawk Emergency Food Pantry – Glenn and Sharon Christianson and the 60-some folks who dedicate their time to the Tomahawk Emergency Food Pantry
