A Letter to the Editor in the Feb. 28 Tomahawk Leader
During the last few months, many people from this community have been praying over a situation with the burial of a young girl in the Oak Hill Cemetery in the township of Skanawan. These prayers have not gone unanswered. Today the original owner (Robin Comeau) informed Channel 7 News that she desires the matter to be over. Ms. Comeau has had a change of heart and is now willing to give up this cemetery plot. It appears that she is no longer demanding for Micayla Ellis to be exhumed.
It was the hope of the Skanawan Town Board to resolve this matter without disturbing the child’s burial site unnecessarily. Ms. Comeau’s original demands made it very difficult for everyone involved. Since neither party filed a legal suit against the township, the board was advised to continue to negotiate a settlement with Ms. Comeau. It is unfortunate that it took all this time, but very satisfying to know that we can now put this matter behind us letting Micayla Ellis rest in peace.
Once again the Tomahawk and surrounding community illustrated compassion and support to those in need. Thank you.
