Kitten Wanted

Postby NurseNell » Thu Mar 06, 2008 11:07 pm

I will be in Tomahawk later this month. I am looking for a 6 to 8 week old kitten. I had 4 cats but one, a foster cat for 9 months, has returned to his home. My 2 older cats are siblings who will be 4 y.o. in June. Their younger sibling (same mom) is 2 years old this week. His name is Donegal and he's lonely because Wexford and Kilkenny hang out together. I don't care whether male or female since it will get spayed or neutered. The current colors are B/W, solid gray, and tortoise shell. So I want a calico, orange, or orange tabby. It's name will be Galway whether male or female.

And no Emily, I am NOT crazy.

OK. I'm ignorant. What's the significance of the name Galway?

My other cats Wexford, Kilkenny, Donegal are named after Irish towns. Galway is another Irish town. Wexford and Kilkenny were my 1st 2 cats (after the death of many previous cats over 30 years). I'd been in Ireland 2 weeks before I got the kittens, near Kilkenny. The town of Kilkenny beat Waterford in the soccer quarter finals. The next match was with Wexford, so thus the 2 names. These games are like the playoffs for the superbowl here. My McBrides are from Donegal and Galway. I also have family from Clare so that will be the next name after Galway, not for many years hopefully.

I legally changed my last name to McBride when I first got cancer. McBride means follower of Bridget. Bridget is the saint of hope and new beginnings, so it seemed appropriate. I had wanted my grandmother's surname since I was 8 y.o. so now I have it. There were no male McBride grandchildren so I am the last in the line to carry the name.
