4th of July events???

Postby jp_vp » Tue Jul 01, 2008 2:38 pm

Hi there,

Just wondering what time the parade begins, and is Tomahawk still having a band downtown following the parade. I remember in years past the block being closed down and a band performing. Any ideas?!?

Thursday night is the band downtown, not sure of the time. Friday, Lions are cooking chicken dinner starting at 10. Parade starts at 1:00, Ski Show 8:00 and $12,000 worth of fireworks at dark.

Make sure and look for the 1958 Tomahawk Boat in the parade. My dad took much pride and had it restored!! It is 50 yrs old this year!!! He's like a 60yr old kid!!!!

Hope this helps.

We have posted a summary of the Pow Wow Days events on our front page, beginning with early Wednesday, July 2 events right through the big day July 4, with its running races, kids' games, the chicken barbecue at 10 a.m., parade at 1 p.m., followed by the water fights. Be sure to note there are some new attractions this year, including lots of fun at SARA Park following the parade and water fights - about 3 p.m. right through the fireworks. This year, Music on the River is another new offering on July 2; and, of course, there's the ever-popular Kwahamot Ski Shows. Check all this out at www.tomahawkleader.com.

We've also posted the parade lineup and staging areas as pdf links.

Watch for lots of Pow Wow Day pictures in our Photo Album after the event. Maybe you'll see yourself, friends or family. Maybe you couldn't make it this year ... here's your chance to visit online. We'll rotate pictures so check back often.

We'd enjoy it, too, if you'd share your thoughts or homesickness on our Message Board-Guestbook. Comments in any of the threads are also welcome.

And, don't forget to check out the Tomahawk Leader's brand new WOW section and NorthCountry Style, on newsstands and at outlets now and posted online, too.

Happy Fourth!

Sorry to say this was the 1st time in years we couldn't make it up for the parade from Chicago. We enjoyed the articles and pictures of the parade. Was that Art Kistler, the Elvis Tribite Artist that was marching in the parade? We came up to see him in Tomahawk a few years ago and he really put on a great show.

We saw he had great pictures of the parade in Tomahawk on his website http://www.elvistributeartist.com/

Sure wish we could of made it this year but will look forward to next years parade!
Keep up the great work, Just a wonderful internet site
TravelTomahawk.com. Hope to visit and see you all soon!

First time my wife, a San Francisco native, and our German exchange student had ever been north for the 4th. Their faces, smiles and looks of amazement, were a wonder to behold. They talked about it for days, said they had never seen anything like, just a small town having fun and enjoying celebrating the nation's birthday. We had thought about going to DC for the 4th but that's like putting lipstick on a pig whereas Tomahawk is real people doing real stuff. Schnitzel said she'd fly back to Tomahawk every year to celebrate the 4th except next time she'll bring her boyfriend. "Nuff said :)
