Does anyone know what if any policy Lincoln County has on Illeagle immigration and the employment of non documented persons?

Ill eagles are usually taken to the Raptor Rehabilitation Center near Woodruff. You'd have to maybe check with a county board member or the Sheriff's Department about the other stuff.

LMFAO Brian. Good one... and yes, the sick eagle place is in Antigo. It's run by a lady named Marge Gibson. No relation to Mel.
P.S. You don't really think the Lincoln county system has any time to think about ill eagles. They are way to busy spinning in circles. If the eagles were circling too, and at the same time, maybe some dizzy Merrill beaurocrat or dept. head would see one or two in the area. If they did shoot one down and was only wounded, they wouldn't be able to understand him anyway because they speak Spanish and nobody in Merrill is bileagle

It does not matter what the policy of Lincoln County is when it comes to undocumented immigrants, it is what INS is going to do about them once you get them into custody.

Prior to 9/11 they had little to no interest in taking them into custody. If you had a couple of bus loads they would be willing to come up and deport them. But for one poor guy who is too drunk to walk and is obviously in this country illegally they could not care less.

NOT that they are all drunks, but that is usually when law enforement interacts with them. Otherwise they keep to themselves.

After 9/11 they wanted everyone locked up. But things have changed in five years.

Today they are pretty much back to the old ways, unless a bus load is waiting for them to deport it seems it is not worth their effort to come take them home.

So no matter what law enforcement wants to do with persons who are here illegally, they cannot do anything without the cooperation of INS.

It should be noted if they do commit a violent crime they will be deported. The INS will not turn their backs on that sort of person.

That is just my opinion on how things work, it should not reflect on my employer or any official policy or procedure of said such employer. Who ever that may be! ;)

ALSO: Marge Gibson and her crew does a great job. This weekend we sent an owl to Northwoods who is in Woodruff because Raptor was not available. So you are all right on where the birds go!

I think the thing that I wonder about more is the people who hire them. Are they breaking the law, and if they are who fines or jails them?

Figuratively speaking, JohnS.. yes. The people and companies that hire illegal aliens ARE breaking the law.

Whether the local law-enforcement really CARES enough to do anything about it, is a matter of debate and particular circumstance.
It is currently one of those ridiculous "grey areas" in our justice system, that could go either way in any given situation.
(And as far as "fines or punishment" goes, it's all a matter of whether the individual that you report it to.. CARES enough to take the proper actions.)
