Bucket List - Anyone have one?

Postby Floyd Alvin » Fri May 29, 2009 9:23 am

Ok, here it is the Bucket List thread or otherwise known as Floyd needs to get a life!  (have to read the dog park thread to get that one)

Does anyone have a bucket list they want to share?

My wife has one with about 100 items on it, but they all start with dumping me and marrying Bill Gates!

I assume every seen the movie with Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman.

Floyd, you DO need to get a life!!! Your interest in, and knowledge of, the subject of doggy-do is starting to concern me. But hey, what ever floats your boat

That being said one thing on my Bucket List for years was to purchase a restored 1950's era car. I was thinking of my first 'cool' car...a '57 chevy. But there are SO many great looking cars from the '50s.

K Mart,What a cool set of car photos. I had three of them that were pictured. The 57 Chevy 2-door Hardtop, the 59 Chevy Bisqaine (Spelling ?? ) That was my first car as a 16 year old. Finally the 63 Chevy 2-door Sport Coupe. If my foot would reach my butt I would be kicking it for selling them.

Wow, after looking at that site I will be awake all night reminising about all the cars I had in the sixties. A 58 Chev, 63 Impala hardtop (bright red, really cool car) 67 Camero, 69 Chevelle. Ahhh fond memories ! :D

The nice part was that you could tell what they were at a glance. Not like now where you have to try to figure out what the name plate is if you can find it.

I would love to have any one of those cars again. Particularly the 63, or the 69. Don't know about the camero, Not sure if sitting that low and being that small how comfortable I would be now. :?

I knew this would happen.!!! I was really hesitant about posting that link.

Now Kerry will probably ban me because I've introduced car-porn to the Message Board.

Those are some hot pictures, eh? 8)

I tried picking out my favorite but there were just too many :D

...and what's with all the Chevy lovers...no Ford (fix or repair daily) fanatics out there? That was always the big fight back in the day !!! And talk about knowing what they were at a glance...there was a time you could pick out many of the GM cars by glancing in your rear view mirror at night and recognizing them by the shape of their headlights. Well...maybe a few of them anyway :)

Also, go to http://www.billsretroworld.com/index.htm for more oldie stuff in including the 'hot ones' you just saw. Interesting stuff indeed

Ahhh, yes, I yearn for days gone by. The loves of my life were (in order owned) a '48 Hudson, '57 Chev, '65 Chev SS396, '68 Ford Torino (that ones for you, Floyd) '68 Corvette 327/350, '70 Nova SS396/375, '56 Corvette 350/432, '77 Porsche Targa 3.0L, '83 Porsche Turbo. Now it's a GMC Yukon XL and a Mercedes M5.5 Sport. How times have changed. I still hold on to the hope that one day I'll be able to have the car of my dreams which is an AC Cobra, replica obviously as the real McCoy is out of reach.

I knew this would happen by turning the original thread of your bucket list to "all the cars I've loved before" (Willie Nelson.... nope wait a minute, that was, "all the girls I've loved before" good thing we're not discussing that topic) haha
Any way Floyd, I do have a bucket list. There is one thing on it.....I hope not to kick it to soon.
Yours truly,

Hey Catfish... I think Deb said in a post some weeks ago that for us to stay on subject is nearly impossible. Think of it as trying to herd a bunch of cats...they(we) just end up going in all directions looking for the most comfortable and natural route possible.

Maybe we should have a thread dedicated to 'free flow'....just let it go to wherever it leads.

Nah!!! That's way to restrictive...someone would surely 'complain' that we can't stay on subject !!!

Floyd, are you out there? Your thread is starting to unravel !!! :P

And Catfish...there is no bucket kicking allowed !!!

What's that Ken? Oh ya, lost my concentration there for a minute, looking at them cars! :-)

Ok, new addition to Bucket List,

A. Keep thread on track
B. Stop trying the impossible (see A above)

Hey Ski... I remember that Corvette well and I also remember that Hudson. Not to mention Cow Pie Stadium, Jersey Cities version of Field of Dreams.

I went through the nostalgia car thing some years back. Spent a fortune on redoing a 55 Chevy convertible and 60 Chevy coupe.

K Mart, About what Deb said about staying on subject I surely know because I am Guilty. Notice that I, as well reminisced about "all the cars I've loved before". Sometimes where the thread has meandered to, is even better than it's original premise.
Speaking of off thread, "where's Jeff been?" I begin missing his words of wit and wisdom. Maybe he's just bright enough not to contribute to some of the dribble.
"Car 54 where are.... no it's Jeff where are you" Being it's now summer time alot of people have more to do than sit in the warmth of our cabin fever to peruse and dribble. But I, on the contrare, seem to be a stranger in a strange land with no life at all. It's just that I'm getting so old that I can't sleep and the TV should be shot with my Mag pistol. Thankfully I can drool with my dribble. Yes.

Hey!! Who's talkin' about me? Guess the voice of reason needs to get everyone back on topic. ~smiley winky face~
Bucket List. Get to have a weeks vacation with my husband alone.
(We get weekends but haven't a week alone for a vacation in nearly 10 years!)
A trip to Australia.

You Chevy lovin' fools, nothing is better than a '65 Mustang. My husband had one when we first started dating. Not a good car for a 17 year old kid. He couldn't leave a stop sign without burning rubber in all 3 gears! Wishes now he had not been so foolish.

Maybe we need to start the "Whatever" thread then we wouldn't have to stay on topic.

I had noticed that Jeff is MIA! He's probably more Twitter or Facebook these days! ~another winky smiley face~

Catfish, don't even get me started on Television. What's with these people? If they outlawed vomiting, farting and fornicating from TV, there would be nothing left but golf. Well maybe not even golf with all of the open mic's out there.

And Hollywood is no better, in fact significantly worse. I forget which movie it was but someone counted how many times they used the “f” word. It was something like 1700 times.

Watch and see though, it is very rare when Hollywood can make a movie without some one either farting or vomiting in your face. What’s with the fascination with that?

And the big new thing on TV is cutting open a cadaver and getting it in your face as close as they can. What in the world are these people thinking?

Ok, back on topic, add to Bucket List:
Borrow Catfish’s big gun and blow away the big screen (but not until after the US Open)

Received a message from Jeff about a week or so back and he had some kind of worm in his computer and was going to be mia until he can either get it fixed or give it the deep 6.

He sure is going to be upset when he see's all that he is missing.

Well, I don't have the car history others have and I sure wouldn't mind having a 64 1/2 Mustang Conv or an old Corvette I did buy a "fun" car a few years ago. I've got a 1980 Triumph Spitfire...

Do I get to join the "owned/own a cool car" club?

Deb!! That is so funny!!

White?!? dang near as bad as Green... sheesh...

And incidentally I have socks older then that car...

But it makes the 20 years old so you got my vote...

White? How boring... not even a some flames running down the side? How about some racing stripe?

I got it, how about a fox tail flying form the antenna and fuzzy dice hanging from the mirror!? You got those right?

That's right Kerry you have now reached the age of adulthood! YIKES that means there is one of my off spring coming close. YIKES that means I'm getting really old. YIKES better get working on that Bucket List. YIKES, what am I talking about age is a state of mind, in my mind I'm 25.

I have to admit the Spitefire was considered a cool car, in an '80's sort of way. Maybe you are allowed.

The thing that bothers me about all these cars is when I go to a car show and there are cars on display with Antique license plates, and I can remember buying them new. I had the first 67 Camero in Tomahawk, brand new right after I got out of the Air Force. Boy did the cops keep an eye on me, every time I was around town I had a police escort. Guess they figured sooner or later I was going to do something.

Now they are hard to come by from what I have heard as there were not a lot sold the first year. Talk about making you feel old. :(

Old Scout, perhaps the reason the police felt the need to have an escort for you was that your reputation proceeded you. ~winky smiley face~
