Thrilla on the Grilla
Anybody go?? Good, bad, ugly?? We missed it by a week this year!!

Re: Thrilla on the Grilla
We were disappointed to see so many places out when we got there. One would think they would have a pretty good idea how much to make based on the number of tickets sold...
Re: Thrilla on the Grilla
Didn't go. Heard Delores Martens was going to be there. Didn't want to be in the middle of a riot.

Re: Thrilla on the Grilla
I was not going to the Thrilla on the Grilla but to one of the local stores in town. Was surprised to see the streets all blocked off. I had to park two blocks away and walk to the store. Had I not needed the item I wanted, I would have just stayed away. There must be a better system.

Here we go again, traffic complaints for festivities that promote Tomahawk and boost the economy!

I agree Deb - what a stupid complaint - " I had to walk 2 blocks because they blocked the streets for....... come on people. Try to get things going for our towns economy - what a petty thing to be picking about

Re: Thrilla on the Grilla
My complaint was misunderstood. I certainly did not mind the 2 block walk. I was only thinking that the stores would not be accessable to all and the proprieters would be losing business. Anything that brings people shopping in Tomahawk is a big plus and that is what I was concerned with. Guess there were enough people for the Thrilla on the Grilla to shop in the stores I was worried about.

Re: Thrilla on the Grilla
neup99,
Bashing a nice senior citizen who was actively supporting a cause she believed in had been dragged through the board long enough.
In my mind, your rant after the BS had died down was uncalled for and mean. Hence the "zzzzzzzzzzzzz's"
Ask Catfish to mediate, but I think you certainly had it coming.
Jeff

Re: Thrilla on the Grilla
Actually, I was making light of the "contraversy", not bashing her. I hardly think 3 short sentences of jest qualifies as a rant.
The response was mostly due to the fact that the message board had been referenced in the paper's front page and was still being posted weeks later. The entire thing was blown out of proportion and assumed half truths were taken as fact. People who don't even live in the same region of the state were writing letters to either attack or defend her. We are seeing some of the hardest times the country has faced in decades, and people are crying foul over a token title for a yearly event. Each week friends and family members are losing loved ones fighting in Iraq and Afganastan, and even more are helping thier family member cope with the physical and mental rehabilitation necessary to even attempt to bring them back to a normal life. The mere fact that the Pow Wow Queen issue escalated to what it did is possibly the greatest tragedy. It shows how accusatory and petty people really are.
That, Jeff, is a rant.

Re: Thrilla on the Grilla
But I thought it was inherently obvious that any one who disagreed with my views on a given topic was "on a rant".

Re: Thrilla on the Grilla
As a second thought; Thrilla on the Grilla to Pow Wow queen Delorus Martin. Rioting? I rest our case.

Exactly. The only threads on a northwoods forum that are going to stay on topic regard: hunting, fishing, reservoir water levels, or the Packers.
