Sparse Message Board
Re: Sparse Message Board
I am recovering pretty good for a 61 year old geezer. My staples are a little sore. I've got 120 of them in the shape of a Mercedes symbol. The incision starts on each hip upward to the center of my chest and where they meet and a new direction (north) towards my throat. I've got the Mercedes scar but still driving the Toyota. Hard time bending and getting up and I sleep propped up on several pillows. It kind of hurts to lay flat because it seems to stretch the staples. They've got me on a very restricted diet as well as restricted fluid intake. I have 36 pills to take every day, (anti-rejection, anti-viral, bile and kidney meds etc.etc. I'm taking more pills than food. The pills are, brace yourself, $3,000 per month--$36,000 per year. Obscene!!!! They say I'll be taking them for the rest of my life. Thank God for Medicade or I'd be a dead 61 year old geezer . They say my numbers are going up daily so things were matched pretty good. I appreciate each new day as a gift. Can't wait to chase the Mrs. around the house again. haha but true! I better stop now.

Re: Sparse Message Board
Catfish, glad to hear the recovery is going well. Old geezer, pahleeze! Age is a state of mind and from what we've all seen here from you is definetly not an old geezer.
Keep driving that Toyota, love my Camry. My husband often comments why do we see so many "old" people driving Camrys, most I assume are older than we are. My response is it's OK ours isn't an old persons Camry it has a sunroof.

I get that geezer stuff from my wife and her kids. She is 14 years younger than I, and her three kids are 25-21-17 my son is 32. The first 2 are in college the 17 year old senior will be going too. You're definately right about age being a state of mind. Just think about it this way,.... say you woke up from a DEEP coma and you have major amnesia. How old do you think you are? Deep thought. from that bottom feeding "Catfish" Time for a nap. Nighty night

My wife & I went to a John Prine concert last year. During the break between his two sets my wife & I were lounging at the balcony overlooking the first floor lounge. Nancy made the comment that she couldn't believe how many "old people" were at the concert. When I said that the folks were our age we both had a reality check!

Re: Sparse Message Board
Jeff, I remember when my motto was "never trust anyone over 30". Now it's something like "never trust anyone under 60". My, it's interesting how age changes your perception of the world.
I remember going to a Stones concert about 10 years ago and the majority of people there had gray hair or not much of it.
Freaky, indeed !!!

Re: Sparse Message Board
As long as the forum ADD has set in, lets go with the current attention getter. Age. My question is if 60 is the new 40, 50 the new 30, and 40 the new 20 is it possible that 30 is the new 10? My oldest will be 30 next week let's see, hmmmm yes it could be!

Deb, there are times like now, during my recovery, that I feel the new 60 is 84 (oh no, here I go again, ouch!)

Deb,
The perceived age shifts are "allowed" to happen because they were mentioned in newspaper or magazine articles. The chronologically 20's - 40's are too busy texting & tweeting to read the articles & protest the perceptions.

Re: Sparse Message Board
I don't protest the perceptions. I text, no tweet however. Is that bad?

Yes I know. However, sarcasm doesn't write well. Translated, it took me a while.
