Sorry I can't help you with this WeGotAway, but speaking from experience, I often wished I had a lake I could name after the lady to avoid the scorn of fishing late.
I'll ask around at some of Lake Alice's establishments this weekend and see what I can come up with. I might not get the right answer, but I'm sure I'll be able to provide you with some hilarious antidotes.

thanks, It would be nice to have a answer to who "Alice' was, if there was one. Otherwise I will have to make up a ghost story about a lady who walks the shore late at night while the loons call . . . .

Tie to Tomahawk: Grew up in Tomahawk in the 50s and early 60s, left after High School in '64
It was probably named by a couple of old drunken ice fishermen back in the late 1800s who went out on the lake one day and one of them said...."Holy-mother-of-tip-ups Wally, this here lake's all ice!". And Wally replied..." That's a darn good name caterpillar-in-training, Lake Alice it is !!!".

And the name stuck forever and ever.

Ok, ok...maybe not entirely correct, but close enough.....

Yup. I wasn't able to track down any info this past weekend, so the "all ice" explanation is what I'll be telling people from now on.
I bet if they'd gotten their truck stuck as bad as I did on Lake Alice this weekend they would have given it a much different name.

Don`t quote me on this.............

Over one hundred years ago a man named Thomas Hawk ( Tom for short), met a girl name Hazel Hurst. They married and and had a daughter named Alice. :P They named a body of water after her. Unfortunately the marriage ended in divorce. Hazel moved north of the area and founded her own town. Thomas stayed in the area, now known as Tomahawk!

Tie to Tomahawk: Cottage on Lake Alice since 1962
Spambot: No
According to what I have read there was an Alice, While they were building the King Dam Three little girls use to fish along the shore. One day the worker's heard them say to one another lets go fishing on Alice's Lake which I read they called it because Alice always caught the most fish when they fished near the Dam.
After the dam was compleated they named the lake after her Hence Lake Alice This is what I have read from a web site about the history of Lake Alice.
