A Letter in the Sept. 28, 2010, Tomahawk Leader:
We in Lincoln County celebrated Labor Day in a big way! This is a county of hard working people who over the years have had to fight for living wages, health insurance, job safety and respect for workers. That’s why we’re endorsing Jay Schmelling for State Assembly. Jay, like most of us, has been working since he was a teen – in the plumbing trade, on construction, in business development – and all the while perfecting the arts of analyzing, organizing, and negotiating. In short, he has what is necessary to lead in Madison.
The government’s contract with labor, with business, with individuals is fragile – and it takes a person with Jay’s skills and ideals to represent us. We don’t want to lose health insurance; we don’t want the minimum wage cut back; we don’t want contracts broken. We know Jay – a family man of integrity and balance. Please consider joining us Nov. 2 in voting for Jay Schmelling on the Democratic ticket.
