Now with all the political ads on the TV and radio they're all bashing each other about what the other one did or didn't do. They talk about businesses and factories moving to other states to get out of Wisconsin. Well if I had an established manufacturing company it wouldn't matter if we made our "widgets" in Wisconsin or Tennessee. I'd still be selling to the same market. The more factory owners that realize it isn't to hard to put your home on the market and rebuy in Tennessee will be even worse for our state economy. The thing is , even if you take a big loss on your property it would still be less of the loss you would realize paying the state tax here in Wisconsin for the next ten years.

I think one thing that has been kept companies from leaving is the production value of a Wisconsinite vs. people in some states. I'm not saying that we are the only state that produces quality labor, but there are other states that do far worse.

But you are right, with the tax incentives to move elsewhere, it is hard to imagine companies staying in our state for much longer.

Tie to Tomahawk: Called it home for many years.
Not to be confused with 'we need to get out of this place'. ~big obnoxious grin~

Now this guy, Reid Ribble, is campaigning about raising the state sales tax to 23% on every thing. One more way to drive not only the businesses and factories out of state but each and every resident as well. What's this guy thinking? 23% would be intolerable.

Is the 23% sales tax dependent on repeal of state income tax? I can't a web site that shows this proposal. Maybe for good reason.

Tie to Tomahawk: Work
Wisconsin grew by 9.65% in population from 1990-2000 and the WI Dept. of Administration and new Census info don't predict much different growth numbers from 2000-2010 with about 30-40k per year. If you look at states where people are going either by moving or birth there is not much correlation with tax rates. http://www.censusscope.org/us/rank_popl_growth.html

Some states have lower personal and corporate taxes but lower standard of living or in some cases higher cost of living or in the worst cases, both.
