Amen, neup99, Amen. (Hey we agree!)

I got in trouble for this quote as my Facebook status:

"Sitting in a garage no more makes you a car than sitting in church makes you a Christian."

One regular church goer former FB friend took offense. I must have struck a nerve.

Yeah, I always liked that one. Nothing like a good analogy to drive home a point. Unfortunately, there are a lot of people sitting in garages. And a lot of good people who don't go to church.

Found the need to do a little bragging. I became a grandma for the 2nd and 3rd time yesterday. My son Michael (who has posted here in the past) and his wife Amber are the proud parents of twins, a boy and a girl. Big Brother is very proud, as is grandpa and grandma!

Congrats Deb! I'm a father in law for the first time (Son married a wonderful young woman this past Saturday.)

Has any one fished Lake Alice recently? Any hot tips?

Any power issues around Tomahawk after the big winds? We had part of a tree fall into our power line & onto our garage.
Power didn't go out, but the mast mounted on the roof of the house bent from the weight of the fall. Spent today cutting & hauling branchs.
Not a great way to burn a day of vacation, but the weather was nice.

At one time I heard that there were around 3600 in the Tomahawk area without power. We lost power about 9:30 Tues. morning and didn't get it back until 6:00 pm on Thurs. It was a bit like camping out in our house. Lots of candles, a Mr. Heater sitting in the basement keeping us warm and thankfully we have a gas stove in the kitchen so we were able to cook and make coffee using our camping coffee pot.(wouldn't have survived without it) Also had a small generator so I could run the freezer and Refrigerator so we didn't lose anything there. An added bonus was our rain barrel was still full so we could flush.

Last I heard there were still quite a few without power. There are also a lot of trees down and some buildings damaged. According to the news, Price and Onieda counties were hit even harder. Around 6000 without power in Minocqua, many still not back up. Eagle River was also hit hard.

Everyone needs to thank the guys that work for the electric companies for all the work and time that they are putting in to get things back to normal. Talked to one of them and he had worked a 18 hour shift until midnight and had to be back at 6:00 am the next day. They really earned their pay and then some working in miserable conditions to get the lines back up. In some cases they would put a line up and just about the time the power came back on another tree would come down and take another section of the same line down. For a while on Tues. and Wed. it was almost a losing battle.

The latest from Chan. 12 news.

Wisconsin Public Service says more than 5,400 customers are still without power at about 5:30 Friday evening.

Most outages are in the Eagle River, Minocqua, Rhinelander and Wabeno areas.

That's down from more than 62,000 customers without power when the storm began earlier this week.

WPS says 400 workers are restoring power, and the improving weather conditions are helping them.

Xcel energy still has less than one-thousand customers without power Friday night.

Two nites ago the power went out at 10:15 PM and didn't come on till 11:00 AM the next morning. Major TV withdrawel after 10:15. No furnace, no cooking, no flushing the toilets, lots of candles and time to go to sleep. Not to kool to wake up in the morning and still not restored. Got over it and was glad to have it come back. 8:30 in the evening it goes out again till 2:00 AM This time TV withdrawel started at 8:30. Can I sue for lack of companionship, I need my TV, the wife don't talk to me. She always wants to know if I've got some place to go cuz she says she can't miss me until I go away. She said if she would have shot me when she wanted to she'd be out by now. I really don't understand her, but she is beautiful.. You know they always say that when you see some drop dead gorgeous babe there is someone some where that can't stand her any more. Yea Jeff, the power went out here twice.

Well Deb, I assumed that you still used an out house! (And since it's Halloween, be thankful I didn't put a "hit" on that out house!)

No snow on the ground any more but Friday nite was terrible on the highway. Large flakes coming right at the headlights and windshield so big and fast couldn't see past the hood. The half hour ride from Medford to Merrill was two hours. Was pulling a trailer with my pick up truck and couldn't go faster than 20 MPH. If I tried to gas up to go 25 I'd start sliding sideways, truck and trailer both. Terrible white knuckle ride. Every 5 miles took 15 minutes. Most of the way couldn't tell where the road was. Plus so slippery at 20 MPH. Guess it was a wake up call as to what's ahead.
I always thought that we were the dumb birds.....that when we fell out of the nest, didn't know which way was South. Ya der hey, in da Nort Wisconsin.

Good morning gang! Freezing out side again today but here I sit in the house, warm as a bug in the rug. Just wanting to wish you all a wonderful Thanksgiving with your families. I am thankful to be here this Thanksgiving after my liver transplant. God is great and I am thankful.

Amen.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you.

Stay warm Catfish! It sounds like the weather won't be kind to the "Black Friday" shoppers. I intend to stay indoors too, watching Auburn/alabama & any other football I can find on the tube. (Go Bucky!)

Nasty day today in West Central WI! At this point we're talking about 14 inches of the white stuff. My husband cleaned out our drive around noon. Pretty much a pointless effort. Nearly 5ft. drift along the front of our house. What's going on elsewhere?

We waited until our daughter came home for semester break to go out to buy a tree. After she came home & we talked it over, the family decided not to buy a Christmas tree. The money we would have spent on the tree is going to the Salvation Army meals program.

I've decided that one of the best things about the Christmas season is the fact that coconut macaroon cookies are readily available! What's your favorite Christmas treat?

Merry Christmas! (Even to Old Scout.)

Jeff

I go out to our woods and cut a charlie brown tree every year. I can't see buying one when I have eighty acres full of them. I like the space between branches on the charlie brown trees for decorating. This is the first year we aren't going to uncoil those cheap-XXX lights from the year before. The walmart lights are like 96 cents a strand, so for the two or three bucks they will be still on the tree when I throw it on the bonfire. Then next year another three bucks. Taking them off the tree and coiling them up for the next year then putting them on again is insane.
My fave for the holidays is eggnog. If it weren't for my liver I'd put a little brandy in there but I'm not allowed. The eggnog is enough, so no liquor for me. I can be obnoxious enough without any added stimulation. My B.S. is just a veneer. I'm just a teddy bear at heart. Did I say that?
