SPECTACULAR CATERPILLAR: A walk in the forest in fall or a visit to the shores of a Tomahawk area water can provide some pretty spectacular finds this time of the year, as was the case with this stunning caterpillar photographed by Jasmine Parker of Tomahawk while on a recent visit to Grandmother Dam. This Fawn Sphinx moth caterpillar is a species from a family known as hornworm caterpillars (note the bright blue horn). Certain species of the sphinx moth are often mistaken for a hummingbird in the summer, as they grow into a colorful moth that feeds on nectar during the daytime.
