TOMAHAWK BOY SCOUT CONTINUES MEMORIAL DAY TRADITION. When performing TAPS at all local Memorial Day ceremonies became too great a task for local veteran groups to carry on, a young man from the Tomahawk Boy Scouts Troop 548 stepped forward to make sure the important tradition did not come to an end. At the age of 11, Raymond Meyer began performing TAPS at Memorial Day ceremonies held at St. Augustine Cemetery and St. Johns Cemetery in Harrison and Bloomville. Four years later, and Meyer continued the tradition by performing at this years ceremonies held at the cemeteries to honor those who paid the ultimate sacrifice. Raymond is the son of Mike and Tina Meyer of Harrison Hills. His proud grandmother, Dee VanderSanden, said Raymond is working toward his Eagle Badge and serves as a good example of the positive impact youth can have on the community.
