Multiple people injured in three-vehicle crash in Oneida County

FOR THE TOMAHAWK LEADER

Multiple people were injured in a three-vehicle crash in Oneida County Thursday, July 18.

According to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Department, a 911 call was received at approximately 10:40 a.m. reporting a three-vehicle crash on Highway 8 near North Rifle Road. Citizens on the scene reported serious injuries and that airbags had deployed.

The three vehicles involved in the incident were a 2001 Crown Victoria, a 2018 Volvo and a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado. The operator of the Crown Victoria was transported by ambulance to the Oneida County/Rhinelander Airport and was flown by helicopter to Aspirus Hospital in Wausau. Both passengers of the Crown Victoria were transported to Ascension St. Mary’s Hospital in Rhinelander. The front passenger was later flown by helicopter to another hospital, according to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Department.

The Oneida County Sheriff’s Department, Rhinelander Police Department, Oneida County Ambulance, Wisconsin Highway Patrol, Crescent Fire Department, Rhinelander Fire Department, Oneida County Highway Department and the Wisconsin Department of Transportation responded to the scene.

The Oneida County Sheriff’s Department will be completing the accident report. The Wisconsin State Patrol is completing a reconstruction of the accident. The accident remains under investigation.
