Hunter dies in Town of Russell Saturday, Nov. 23

TOWN OF RUSSELL – A hunter who was found not breathing by other members of his hunting party died of natural causes on Saturday, Nov. 23, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department.

The Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call at about 1:30 p.m. reporting a hunter who was found not breathing by other members of his hunting group on land off of Beaver Trail Rd. in the Town of Russell. According to the Sheriff’s Department, the victim, Charles H. Augustine, 66, of the Town of Rib Mountain, passed away from natural causes while field dressing a deer he had shot sometime in the morning. Augustine was pronounced dead at the scene by Lincoln County Coroner Paul C. Proulx.

Town of Russell first responders and firefighters responded to the scene, along with the Merrill Fire Department Ambulance and Sheriff’s deputies.
