As reported by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Monday, March 2:

A Merrill man, 17, was arrested Tuesday afternoon on a warrant charge. A deputy responded to 7th St. in the City of Merrill and arrested the man on the warrant. The man was also charged with criminal damage to property as a result of an investigation into damage that he had caused at the Lincoln County Jail.

Deputies investigated a sudden death on Saturday evening in the Town of Rock Falls. At 7:20 p.m., a 911 call reported that a man was found dead at a logging operation off of South End Rd. near Big Hill Rd. Deputies found that the man was cutting down trees and was struck by a one. The man was pronounced dead at the scene by Lincoln County Coroner Paul C. Proulx. The victim was identified as Bruce C. Broeking Sr. of Merrill.

A Merrill man, 82, was arrested Sunday morning on a warrant charge. A deputy took the man into custody in the Town of Merrill at the request of the Wisconsin Department of Corrections for violating the terms of his probation.

A Minocqua man, 30, was arrested Sunday evening after attempting to flee from a Lincoln County deputy. A deputy stopped a vehicle on US Hwy. 51 near Crass Rd. at 11:30 p.m. for a speeding violation. When the deputy approached the stopped vehicle, the suspect fled southbound on US Hwy. 51. The pursuit ended safely near Lincoln Dr. after a deputy was able to successfully deploy a tire deflation device. The driver was arrested on a felony charge of fleeing and was cited for speeding and driving without a valid driver license.

The number of deer crashes has increased from previous weeks with seven being reported.
