TOMAHAWK – Ascension Sacred Heart Hospital Foundation and Tomahawk Main Street, Inc., have partnered to bring the Opening Doors campaign to the Tomahawk community from March 16 through March 20.

“This combined effort is to showcase community support that is vital to both Ascension Sacred Heart Hospital Foundation and Tomahawk Main Street,” stated Foundation Director Leslie Hilgendorf.

The Opening Doors campaign will see participating businesses’ doors decorated pink by the Foundation in an effort to “further the Foundation’s efforts to partner with both the hospital and community,” Hilgendorf said.

Donation boxes will be provided to each business. All proceeds collected will be allocated to the Foundation’s efforts to bring 3D mammography to Tomahawk.

Hilgendorf is asking area businesses to consider participating in the campaign.

“Your business can make a continued difference in the health and well-being of our community,” she stated.

3D mammography is on the only mammogram proven to detect breast cancers 15 months earlier, reduce callbacks by up to 40%, and find more invasive cancers than conventional 2D mammography alone.

“When revolutionary technology is discovered, we believe everyone, including small towns should have access to it,” Hilgendorf said. She noted one in eight women will develop breast cancer in her lifetime and eight out of nine women diagnosed with breast cancer have no family history, but the five-year survival rate is almost 100% with early detection.

“Please help by partnering with us to continue to bring the latest advancements in technology to our community,” Hilgendorf said.

For information about participating in the Opening Doors campaign, contact Tomahawk Main Street at 715-453-1090 or Ascension Sacred Heart Hospital at 715-453-7700.
