Roger A. Benson, age 66, of Tomahawk, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2020, at his home under the care of his family and Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services. He was born Dec. 15, 1953, in Rockford, Ill., to the late Herbert C. and Laura (Hutchinson) Benson.

Roger was a 1972 graduate of Freeport High School in Freeport, Ill.. He served his country in The United States Navy from 1975 to 1979. Roger was married to Sherri Smith on Sept. 8, 2001; she survives.

He worked at Marathon Electric in Wausau for many years, retiring in 2017. Roger enjoyed music, the outdoors, and spending time with family and friends. He loved going to concerts, kayaking, canoeing, fishing, snowshoeing, hiking, camping, and taking pictures of all of his adventures.

Survivors include his Wife, Sherri Smith, of Tomahawk; one Daughter, Heather DeHart, of Madison; one Sister, Candice Benson (Willard) Shenberger, Jr., of Freeport; Twin Nephews, Robert (Krystal) Shenberger, of Lena, Ill., and Richard Shenberger, of Freeport; Great-Nephews and Nieces, Elijah, Angela, RJ, and Grace; and His Aunt, Raggie Seedoff, of Lake Villa, Ill. Roger is further survived by his loving In-Laws, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and many long-time Friends.

He was preceded in death by his Parents, Herbert and Laura Benson; one Brother, Dennis Benson; two Infant Sisters, and his Maternal and Paternal Grandparents.
