TOMAHAWK – The Hatchet Pride Project is a $2.25 million effort to install a new track, new synthetic turf field, new bleachers and other facility enhancements at Hatchet Field, located at the Tomahawk School complex. The bulk of the project’s funding has come from private donors and sponsors. The Hatchet Pride Project Committee will feature a shoutout to one sponsor per week. This week, the Tomahawk STAR Foundation, a Gold sponsor, is in the spotlight.

The Tomahawk STAR Foundation serves the Tomahawk area by acting as a community chest for business and individuals by making charitable grants to community groups, clubs and non-profit organizations that contribute to the health and vitality of our area. Since its inception in April 2004, the STAR Foundation has donated more than $400,000 to local community groups.

The STAR Foundation contributed to the Hatchet Pride Project because, “Having a nice facility shows our Hatchet pride and keeps kids in our school district,” said spokesperson Jackie Leonard.

The STAR Foundation is a wonderful organization that supports our community in numerous ways. You can get involved in the STAR Foundation by participating in their annual STAR SPLASH, where participants do the Polar Plunge for charity. You can learn more about the STAR Foundation on their website www.tomahawkstarfoundation.org or you can follow them on Facebook at www.facebook.com/Tomahawkstarfoundation.
