Alfred H. Goehe, age 97, of Tomahawk, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2020 at Riverview Rehab & Care Center in Tomahawk.

Alfred was born July 5, 1923 in the Town of Harrison, Lincoln County, son of the late Herman and Jenny (Roesler) Goehe. He married Margaret L. Paul on November 27, 1954 in Gleason. She preceded him in death on Jan. 3, 1997. Alfred was a self-employed logger and trucker. He enjoyed deer hunting and fishing, family gatherings, and visiting with friends at the Lincoln County Fair. Alfred had been a vice president of the trucking division of ‘Timber Producers’ and wrote several articles for their publication. Alfred served in the U.S. Navy from April of 1943 until his honorable discharge in January of 1946 and had attained the rank of Seaman 1st Class.

Alfred is survived by his daughter, Bev (Todd) Seeburger, Butternut, Wis.; his son, Andrew (Tammy) Goehe, Tomahawk; and three grandchildren, Tony Davidson, Madison, Nate Goehe, Wichita Falls, Tex., and Jenny Goehe, Tomahawk; along with nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Alfred is preceded in death by four siblings, Louise, Carl, Herman, and Grant.

The funeral was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, 2020 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Tomahawk. The Rev. Stephen Gillet officiated. Burial followed in Greenwood Cemetery, Town of Bradley, with graveside military rites. Visitation took place from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. Friday at the Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, and again at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church. Social distancing and mask protocols were encouraged at both the funeral home and church.
