Karen Olson

Karen Olson, age 83, of Irma, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2020 under the care of Ministry Home Hospice.

Karen was born on Feb. 17, 1937 in Evanston, Ill., to Andrew and Rose (Jackel) Swanson. She was married to Axel Leonard Olson on Feb. 13, 1960 in Evanston at Immanuel Lutheran Church. He preceded her in death in 2015. Karen and Len moved to Des Plaines, Ill., in 1967, where Karen worked for the USPS as a letter carrier, along with other challenging jobs. Together, they moved to Tomahawk in 1993 to keep the family homestead. Locally, Karen was a school bus driver for many years and also served as the Town of Skanawan Chairperson. She is a member of Grace Lutheran Church where she had many special and loving friendships. She served on Grace Lutheran Church Council and was a choir director. Karen was an avid gardener.

Karen is survived by her son – Jeffrey (Jenny) Olson of Irma; her sister – Nancy Friel of Michigan; many nieces, nephews, her two special kitties – Patches and Panda, and many grand animals. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband – Len, and two sisters.

The Memorial Service for Karen Olson will take place at 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 25, 2020 at Krueger Family Funeral Home, Tomahawk. Pastor Susan Christian will officiate. Visitation will take place from 4 p.m. until the time of service at 6 p.m.
