Tomahawk woman dies after head-on crash in Town of Woodboro

TOWN OF WOOBORO – A Tomahawk woman died following a two-car head-on collision in the Town of Woodboro on Thursday, Sept. 17, a release from the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office said.

According to the Friday, Sept. 18 release, multiple 911 calls were received at approximately 10:14 a.m. reporting the accident at the intersection of U.S. Highway 8 west and County Highway N. Upon arrival, deputies found several people with injuries.

The drivers of both vehicles were transported by ambulance to the hospital.

The passenger of the westbound vehicle, Carol J. Brown, 76, of Tomahawk, died while being transported to the hospital via Medivac helicopter, according to the release.

The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Nokomis Fire Department, Crescent Fire Department, Rhinelander Fire Department, Oneida County Emergency Medical Services, Rhinelander Medics 91, Medivac Helicopter Ambulance, Woodboro First Responders, Pine Lake First Responders, Oneida County Highway Department, Department of Transportation, Wisconsin State Patrol and the Oneida County Medical Examiner’s Department.

The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, with the assistance of the Wisconsin State Patrol, will be continuing the investigation.
