Delores ‘Toots’ Barr

Delores “Toots” Barr, 88, a lifelong Tomahawk resident, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2020 at Tomahawk Health Services.

Delores was born March 23, 1932, the oldest of 20 children to Leroy and Ellen Hess. She married Richard Barr in 1964 in Tomahawk. He passed away in 2010. She worked seasonally at the Cranberry marsh and also cleaned cottages at Sunset Point Resort. She enjoyed gardening, baking, reading, canning, flower gardening, and made many of her family’s clothes. Her greatest pride was raising her children and spending time with grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Surviving Delores Barr are six children, Sharon Barr, Tomahawk; Joyce (Bruce) Graap, Merrill; Steven Smith, California; Toni (Mike) Russo, Tomahawk; Traci (Tom) Kriescher, Wausau; and Terri (Mark Grmick) Barr, Tomahawk. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. There are eight siblings that survive Toots, Joyce Jones, Tennessee; Darlene (Van) Johnson, Tennessee; Jeanne (Ben) Jensen, Grantsburg, Wis.; Laurel (Phiefer) Fullenwider, North Carolina; Kathy (Floyd) Frazee, Frederick, Wis.; Aleta (Bruce) Millan, Menomonee, Wis.; Leroy Hess, Grantsburg, and Lawrence Hess of Danbury, Wis. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Richard, Daughter, Esther, and 12 siblings.

Funeral Services using COVID guidelines were held on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2020, 11 a.m. from the Krueger Family Funeral Home, Tomahawk. Pastor Larry Mathein officiated. The family received friends at the funeral home Tuesday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. Masks were appreciated.
