Marion M. Westergren

Marion M. Westergren, age 98, of Iron River, Wis., passed away peacefully on Nov. 2, 2020 at Willow Manor.

Marion was born on Feb. 27, 1922 in Tripoli to Daniel and Eutha (Wilcott) Shay. She was married to William D. Westergren on March 25, 1949 in Tomahawk. He preceded her in death in 2007. Marion helped her husband at the Co-Op Store for many years. Later she worked as a CNA at Golden Age Nursing Home in Tomahawk.

Marion was an excellent seamstress and baker – she was especially known for her sour cream twists. She sewed many of her own clothes and always looked nice. She loved reading, family gatherings and spending time with her grandchildren.

Marion is survived by her daughters – MaryAnn (Tom) Lake of Eau Claire and Marlys (James) Plucinak of Florida; her son – William R. (Anna) Westergren of East Bethel, Minn.; seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband – William.

The Funeral Service for Marion Westergren took place at 12 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 5, 2020 at the Krueger Family Funeral Home, Tomahawk. Pastor Larry Mathein officiated. Visitation took place from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 12 p.m. Burial in Somo Cemetery immediately followed the service.

The greatest legacy a mother can leave to this world, is well educated children.
