Marvel H. Halverson, age 95, of Spirit Falls, Wis., passed away on Friday, Oct. 23, 2020, at Ascension St. Mary’s Hospital in Rhinelander, Wis. Marvel was born Nov. 19, 1924, in Clearwater County near Bagley, Minn., to the late Henry and Minne Halvorson. He grew up in the Bagley area and worked on family farms until he left to work on the freight ships of the Great Lakes. Marvel returned to Northern Minnesota and started working as a heavy equipment operator.

In 1951, he married the love of his life, Agnes Eisbrener, in Grand Rapids, Minn., and they would be married for the next 69 years. Marvel and Agnes raised five children together. He then moved his family to Kenosha, Wis., in 1961 to begin a career as an over-the-road truck driver hauling cars, boats, and finally, steel. He retired in 1988 and moved to Spirit Falls, where he enjoyed a long and wonderful retirement.

Marvel loved fishing, hunting, family, enjoying nature, tinkering, time with his cat “Peaches,” and feeding and watching the wildlife.

Marvel is survived by his wife, Agnes; his children: Lucille (Greg) Jacobson, of Tomahawk, Ronald Halverson, of Plymouth, Minn., Kathleen (Robert) Rode, of Tomahawk, Barbara (Gary) DeHart, of Kenosha, and David (Claudia) Halverson, of West Allis, Wis.; his grandchildren, Jeramie DeHart, MacKenzie (Jeff) Szimanski, and Heather (David) Schaber; and his great-grandchildren, Skylar, Jax, DeLaney, Gavin, Jonny, and Blake. Marvel is further survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends who he loved.

Marvel was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Minne; his six sisters, Myrtle, Belvia, Olga, Cora, Evelyn, and Helen; as well as nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to friends, Gene and Carrie Bommersbach, for all of their help and love.

A private celebration of life for Marvel Halverson will be held at a later date. Generations Funeral Home & Crematory, Tomahawk, is assisting the family. View Marvel’s obituary and leave online condolences at www.generationsfuneral.com.
