Ruth Mary (Borrebek) Jokinen passed away on Nov. 4, 2020, at the age of 94. She was born June 26, 1926, in La Crosse, Wis., to Anton and Grace Borrebek. She married Melvin Jokinen on June 13, 1950, in Madison, Wis. They later divorced. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from UW-Madison. She was an excellent homemaker, also taught science at Tripoli High School, and worked as a home health aide. She had been involved in the Girl Scouts, Sons of Norway, the Knox Creek Heritage Center, and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Brantwood. She enjoyed bowling, skiing, sewing, travel, reading, crossword puzzles, baking, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Ruth is survived by her five daughters, Nancy (Steve) Doll, Karin (Dave) Kivela, Sue (Tom) Wymore, Carol Jokinen, and Robin (Brian Schumann) Jokinen; grandchildren, Jason, Laura, Amanda, Nathan, Hilary, Kelsey, Niilo, and Hap; great-grandchildren, Jack, Cora, Jakob, Barrett, Addison, Stella, and Eveliina. Ruth had two sisters, Margaret Meininger and Edna Robinson, and she is survived by a much-loved extended family.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, and nephew, Robert.

A memorial service, festival of hymns, will take place in the summer of 2021. Heindl-Nimsgern Funeral Home is assisting the family.
